Well the problem here is straight up liability. I work for an insurance company, so we've been told exactly why a lot of the city schools are closed... the side streets are a mess. Most of these kids ride the bus. For liability issues, the bus drivers aren't allowed to drive on this stuff for fear of overturning with a passengerload of kids, most of whom have litigation-happy parents. Therefore the schools are kinda at the mercy of their insurance companies, who say "If you let your drivers drive on this stuff, we are not going to pay your claim(s) should the bus get into an accident."

I should also mention that my kid attends Mid-Del.

I bought me a new laptop yesterday myself. My other one took a crapola. Toshiba for about $500.00 from Best Buy and on sale. I swear they make these things so they break in a few years so you have to buy a new one.

Damn the man!! darn him!!

Every electronic device that I have owned usually quit within a couple of months of the warranty expiring. Wal-Mart had just knocked the price of this computer from $798 to $598. It is a Dell 17.?" with Windows 7. I'm enjoying it. I was afraid that I would have to relearn Windows with the upgraded system, but Windows 7 and Vista aren't much different.

We are, well the kids are, out of school again tomorrow. They have to be bussed to the next town, because we are too small of a town to have our own school. We decided to rent movies on pay-er-view. It was easier than going to the video store. There really isn't much of a theater near us to visit either. Congrats on the hatch.

just saw this, thought you guys would enjoy it....

The Sixth Day Bird

The Creator, creating the beasts of the field,
In a moment of whimsy could not help but yield
To an urge, and what could be fitter?

"I'll make Me one final whimsical critter!"
He began with the torso, spheroidal, prolate,
With legs short and stubby and toes six or eight.
The head wears a helmet with a strawberry top
And down-dangling wattles either straight or a lop.
Most birds are melodious, with a tune for each
He endowed this one with a god-awful screech.
They seldom walk--'tis a run or a trot,
Snatching bugs left and right, one for each polka-dot.
Their mentality make(sic) them insatiably curious.
They greet things strange with clamor furious
He made 'em gregarious to run in a flock
Then, wearily spent, He looked at his clock.
The Sixth Day ebbed into night when He
Grinned as He rested and called it a GUINEA!
