I Talked with the Cyril Fire and Ems yesterday. They informed us that Caddo Electric says it will hopefully just be 3 to 5 more days until they might have power restored. But that is if we dont get a second wind of this $#!^.... I am not sure what area Al Lives in but we went out to the place last night around 830pm and most of Elgin was restored up to Kleeman Road.... Hopefully it wont be a month like everyone is saying... I cant handle being stuck in an apartment with 4 adults and one wild 2 year old much longer....

ok one last response then i really have to go. people need their tractors. but answer your question 52.....no i didnt know about it, but i love getting the word out about it. i am not some tree hugging hippie that hates they get cut down, and no offense to the tree hugging hippies in here, i do like to conserve for our planet but understand the use fo0r the trees, i do it because im tired of being indepndent on poeple i have no reason to be. not that im a cheap s.o.b. just i dont have millions of dollars to keep giving millionaires for something i can do for myself. and get paid to sell it back to them.....lol.... whatever i can do to figure out on how to cut cost here and there for the greater good of my family, and pass on the knowledge to others who are like minded then thats what i was sent here to do. like i said in the begining im here to learn as much as you guys are, and i know i have never shut up but i will all you have to do is ask, but i love building things and making myself less stressed out on paying people that already have millions of dollars. i want a simple life in the sticks, i have the food part down, the tranportation part if we do run out of gas or they have some crisis, i have horses and a young john donkey i am working with to pack and to pull a small buggy to take me to the store. i am about to start planting my garden so i will have food all year til next season, all i need now is a good beef calf and a milk cow. wich i might just switch to goats milk. i know how to fish. my daughter is 9 and loves to design clothes so we are teacher her to make clothes, so if yo evr meet me and im wearing some off the wall shirt then you know why, i would wear it for my daughter. my son wants to be a paleontoligist so we let him help in the digging of the garden course he dont know that but we tell him that anyways. not really much help at 7 but it helps him learn. sorry for being long winded, wow if we could harness all that we all could make a small fortune off me.....lol anyways you all have fun tractors are not going to build themselves and well wife dont like using power tool so guess i got to do it. ttyl

i found plans for something like that. I have been considering making some of this stuff when spring comes around but we will see how that goes because I always have more projects than Ihave time for.

Howdy

Hoo-doo - I likes the handle. And never be ashamed at making a buck. I have a real good friend whose dad is a home builder...folks always think he will help out...that is his job...don't ask him to do his job for free...he is more than willing to help folks with other stuff...point being...make a buck...besides...there are folks like me that can do some things and like doing it...but have very strict limits...I try like heck to stay away from plumbing and 'tricity...the first cuz not everything in pipes is water and the second cuz it is voo-doo

Monty - i am so envious...City and Sooner

but Steph wasn't talking at you so you didn't have the trifecta of hotness going...

Back to the wind thingy and the solar heat thingy...I am so doing that if i ever get a real place in the country...it would so fit with my plans for the bunker...

Gees, I hate this sooooo for y'all that are without
power. A couple of days is one thing, but this
extended stuff is another. Here I sit in
Tahlequah with three canners, plenty of lids,
a propane stove, and a 1 hp meat grinder.
Slims the menu somewhat, but saves the
meat investment.

Guess all I can fuss about is the ice sheet that
is sliding off the new metal roof.....tore the
cables off the satelitte dish..........NOPE, no way
am I really fussing !!!!!!!

Welcome to the "newbies". The rule around here
is that you aren't a "newbie" but for your first
post. Then, you're part of the best group of
folks you'll ever hope to join.....bar none !

Have a good one !

Okay, the Lawton water situation isn't as dire as I suggested. There is a second smaller water treatment plant that serves the folks on the eastern side of town.

So there will only be 65,000 people without water. >>Whew!!<<

Me, I'm fine. I'm on rural water. But I feel for my friends in town. They will be turning off the water for most Lawtonians at 4:00 to conserve it for hospitals and the like.

Monty my scoop about the generators was incorrect. I called the National Guard and they said they were not for individual use, more like for emergency shelters, hospitals, schools and such. That's why I didn't call Al this morning about it, but I did call him after your PM.

My renter has been cutting the trees on our place in town in exchange for rent. Wife said it is looking pretty bare. Sad. Those were some beautiful old trees and will be hard to replace.
