ok, question for you all- am thinking of getting a couple ducks for fly control and they are so darn cute...what are your favs and suggestions?

I'm pretty sure, should I ever fall down and get ducks, that my neighbors would NOT be pleased.

LOL! yeah having them in town would be a problem- we have ten acres, the neighbors like us cuz of the eggs- but when i read they help control flies- see our neighbor has cattle, so besides our chickens we have the cattle to deal with- so i am thinking instead of being inundated with flies again, maybe ducks would be a good idea...

so how are you this morning?

Donnie,It may be difficult to really promote that breed ,they look like several others and you sure want to be able to trust the seller and be able to track their lineage to make sure they really are that breed. Just saying...

Kate..the man I got him from at Shawnee show called him a chocolate...but I don't see that. I'll try to get a pic this evening and post it. He's such a sweet bird...not flighty like most polish.

I love the Muskovies. They don't quack...they just make a hissing noise and they are so sweet. They also fly so if a predator is after them they can fly away.

Artsy Get you some muscovys. With that much room they would be great to watch as well as usefull. They will set set and hatch huge batches of babys and boy are they bug catchers. Always on the move looking for snacks!Don't require a lot of water either and are a lot quieter than other breeds.Pretty good resale value too.

Faerie...get some Muskovies...they don't quack...just hiss.

Morning Sooner Baby ducks are like purple martins,they are bug chasers. Its funny to watch them. They are constantly on the go diving at flying bugs.The muscovys seem to be even more prone to do it,and when there is a big batch of them they are going in all directions at once,hilarlious!

i looked at them, but by the end of march they'll be illegal in the US....

hey sooner, how yah feeling? not sure how they keep flies in check unless they consider them a treat?
