i don't know about your part of the country but we get $3 a dozen for chcken eggs and the same for small duck eggs but the huge duck eggs you gotta charge more for they won't even fit in cartons. Selling duck eggs for eating isn't real profitable because they don't lay near as many a year as a chicken and eat just as much, but if you are up to your ears in eggs some people prefer the taste over chicken eggs and they make the best cakes and muffins ever. We have bought duck eggs for eating while selling chicken eggs. we now have our own ducks so no more paying for duck eggs.

- where are you from, Perryspeeps?

And in case you didn't catch the Newcastle directions, that auction is at the Newcastle Ag Building - off of Highway 62 and south of Sonic ¼ mile next to the city park. For more info call Jamie Parker- (405) 387-6092 or (405)426-0911, or PM phpoultrysales or modernman.

I'm in Choctaw. I'll be going to the auction. Do any of you know if anyone will be selling Wyandottes? If so are they reasonable or are they high because of their beauty?

So anybody going to the Cement auction tomorrow?

I work till 6 so will be there late, but I'll be there.

And has anyone been to the new Blanchard auction on the 1st and 3rd? I'm curious how that is going.

I don't know what will be for sale, several pages back (6397) they posted what was already consigned.
I'm new as well to the Okies BYC, but one thing I've learned, if go to the auction, start asking who is in the BYC, don't be bashful and introduce yourself. This is a great extended family full of knowledge and ready to welcome new people into their "flock"

After doing a little homework I've decided against Wyandottes until I have: A) more money to build another enclosure, B) more time, C) More motivation. I have 12 RIR chicks brooding in my 80 sq foot coop within their 1152 sq foot enclosure. I'd be really torqued if they all went broody right out of the gate so I'll stick with the Red's for now.

I am Ok today, yeah I know my schedule stays pretty full, I was told I can sleep all I want when I go to the big coop in the sky. I may head to the bait shop in a minute and drop a line in the pond over morning coffee, then hit the Cement auction this afternoon.

How are Ya'll this fine summer morning ??.

AL

Morning everyone. I would love to hit the auctions today but I booked in too much work to do.

What's up with everyone calling about getting their AC fixed in their tractors? Summer is not even officially here yet!

So just ninja posting this morning.

Al you are right too. Birds do not have the receptors in their systems to taste hot things. (From the thread about red things)

A good mouse/rat deterrent is to make some tea out of hot peppers and spray around feed areas and even the feeders themselves, Mammels of all types will avoid eating the feed or trying to get into the area.

Morning Les : Yeah the heat has arrived in full force, we okies knew it was coming now didn't we LOL. Les the air conditioning thing is funny, I have sold out of all of my window air conditioning unit's already, folks are scarfing them up. I pull about 20 decent used unit's out of home remodels I do and resell the good ones cheap, they go like hot cakes LOL.
I always knew that chickens do not have the receptors but folks make me laugh when they think their birds can taste, silly humans LOL. What U up to today ??.

AL

Morning Al, Buster, Les and everyone else,

Al is there any coffee left? I am having a hard time getting woke up. Might be a bit dehydrated cause I have a killer headache.
Sounds like everyone's day is off to a good start. Getting ready to head out to meet Lise and Eric of Stinky Puddle Ranch, than back to the ponderosa to do a bit of cleaning before I leave for the auction.
Oh cr@p just looked at the time.
Be back later if I can get all my chores done in time.
Have a great day everyone!
