Yeah I was just looking on craigslist in either Stilwater or tulsa and someone had one. He was a real cutie. I figure with the guniea hogs, there would be faster production and there fore I could use the money from them to get tghe other things I want! But been looking at a lot of fainters too. Hard to pay those high prices for a goat even tho goats are holding their prices better than other stock.
Have you all adopted any new critters?lol

No, just a flock of geese. I'm wanting some jungle fowl pretty bad though. The guy at our local poultry auction has Zebus they look pretty neat I'm not sure of their usefullness but they are cool. I'm not big on goats the fainters are cool though. I haven't had any experience with guinea hogs in fact i've never heard of them.

well guys i arrived home today too 57 dead birds , i lost them all to one dog , caught her in the pen , she killed them and didnt even eat one

i lost all of my oegb , bantam EE , mille fluer duccles, buff laced polish , some ameraucana hens, EE hens , barred rocks hens, and my white EE roo , and a few ameraucana chicks that were in a grow out pen

so i will be looking into starting a new flock of these ...

Pen her up if you want to keep her. I've never been able to break one with training. I work with all kinds of trainers and they don't have much luck either. We have dog kennels with hog panel floors and roofs, they were for austrailian shephards those dogs would kill anything.

My son's dog killed 20 something very young ones last year. I was keeping the dog at our place while he was moving in down the road. He fixed up a solid kennel to keep him in, but I know if he ever gets out and comes over here, he will kill chickens again. I have never had or seen a dog that will stop killing chickens, once they have killed them before.

i know what you mean , i havent ever seen a dog stop killing chickens once they start , she is on a log chain with a 1500 lb swivel because of chewing thru the chain link dog kennels she has destroyed 5 of them , has broken several chains and tore up wooden fence ..... i just hate to kill her since she is part of the family and all

Donnie, So very sorry. That is a terrible way to lose birds.

Sounds like very normal behaviour to me!

And I agree with NNbreeder, June bugs are the most fun to catch for the birds - and if you drop them into the water dish, the bug isn't as likely to get away before the birds snatch it. So much fun to watch!

Evening All!

Donnie, I am so sorry about your loss. It is hard to know what to do when something like this happens. Keeping her penned is all you can do if you are not willing to rehome her or put her down. I may have some bantam EE soon. Right now what I have is really young but I have several hens setting on eggs and most of them are EE but not all of them are bantams, just have to see when they hatch.

Well went to Newcastle auction last night. Prices were really low and I got my turkeys and a pretty EE hen. Also picked up a pair of Favorelles from Peaches. Boy I love Favorelles, such pretty birds.

Thanks to Carl and Stephanie we have air conditioning and power. You guys are a life saver. Uli was able to fix the connection in 15 minutes. Yeah!!! Got a lot of work done today. Cleaned the coop and man it was

. Put a new tarp over the grow out pen, dug a trench in front of the coop to keep the water from flowing in when it rains. Cleaned both of the brooders. Another

job. and made to bucket waterers. Oh and started building another brooder. Been a really busy day.

Speaking of busy days I better go close up the coop.

You all have a great night.
