I sure hope i am doing this right. I had a hard time figuring out how to navigate around here but I believe I finally am in the right place, thanks to monty and his help.
Anyway, I have been registered on here for a long while now, just never really go the chance to join in the fun! I am going to try and be more involved here from now on. One reason I havent been in on the discussions is I am the one who lost everything last year in april to the fires. Total loss including about 200 chickens and another 100 or so new hatches and even moe eggs in bator. We lost most all are poultry and pets. Thankfully 1 tom and 3 turkey hens survived and 1 lonely guinea hen. Before I start rambling on, I want to thank EVERYONE who pitched in donations to help us out back then. Yes, it has been a long while and I apoligize for not thanking everyone personally. For some who dont remember, I believe Monty took up a collection at last years get together. So even though I sent messege of thanks, I want to say THANK YOU to ALL! I have met a few of you at the blanchard auction. I used to go there all the time before the fires but only have been back there once and that was back in feb i think. I am thinking about going over tonight but just not for sure yet.
Now, up to date on my lil feathery friends.........I by no means have near as many as I hade and will not have that many again. I figured why not start out right and make sure I have everything i need before I start in again. So, we got a temp run up( i swore we were not going to go "temp" on anything, but I jsut couldnt wait for my lil chickens again) and I decided to start off small with jsut a few breeds. My fav is the STANDARD WHITE FACED BLACK SPANISH so I have 26 of these, 10 being cockerals. lovely huh? I have 1 lonely STANDARD white Cochin that I believe is a cockeral and I just ordered 5 pullets to go with him. Since the WFBS are non-setters, I am hoping one of my other breeds will accept the eggs. I no longer have my bator and not sure if i want one again. i love hatching but I am jsut a weak person when it comes to my chickens and I would be over run in no time. Anyway, along with my WFBS and y SWC I have 8 americauna pullets and 1 cockeral. And last but not least, 3 pullets and 1 coceral silver laced cochan bantys. We are in teh process of building a chicken house and other then enclosing it is is almost done. I am looking forward to next spring and that is when I will really start in again and maybe add another breed or 2...........ummm NO I am not getting addicted again! Well, nice to join in again. Guess I will go do a profile and play around here for a bit.
