Losing a calf and possibly the heifer would be a major loss.
I have never figured out why some hens are successful at hatching and other are not, when the eggs are viable. I suspect that humidity has something to do with it.

I know you got to "do what you got to do" but please remember how long it took you to recover from heat stroke last year and take care of yourself.
Don't make us come down there and help Laura make you behave yourself
Funchick - so sorry that you are having major problems with your flock.
It is aggravating to lose chickens to illness but like you, I always feel guilty when it seems like I lost them because I didn't notice health issues timely.
On a positive note, it sounds like y'all are in a great position to provide fresh water this winter, more easily. I really like my no-freeze hydrants that are close to chicken pens. Glad you didn't give yourself heat stroke getting everything done.
Greybear so sorry about the cow and calf, thats a tough loss.
I'm suffering a bad toothache the last couple of days. Hope to get in and get it pulled soon. It really hurts when I eat and thats bad!l;ol
Hope everyone gets to dry out today.

Funchick - so sorry about your flock - sometimes these things happen - a wild bird could have brought something in - sounds like you are doing all you can. Hugs to you and Vern
Greybear! Dang it - I hate when you have to pull calves and lose them and then the heifer too - I hope she gets up soon.
Everybody stay safe in this heat and humidity.
I'm on and off again as usual lately - going to get new shoes put on my car this morning... will check in later!
