My first order contained:
5 Red Star
5 Black Star
5 Black Australorps
5 Buff Orphingtons
The secored order was the ornamental layer collection from McMurray hatchery.......they were unfortunately shipped around President's Day when we had a really bad cold snap and I lost part of the order during shipping.
I think I have:
1 partridge cochin
1 dark brahma
1 buff cochin
1 minorca
3 phoenix
1 golden laced wyandotte
1 white crested black Polish
3 EE hens
I got 2 free chicks that turned out to be Roosters. One is an EE and the other I think is a phoenix roo.
My wonderful sister didn't think that was enough so she brought a few more at Atwoods. I think one is a RIR, maybe, two I think are light brahmas, and 2 turned out to be rather huge barred roosters with feathered feet (?). ( I think I may have to find these to another home)
Wow Jeannie that is one big snake! Thank goodness you got him before he wiped you out! That chick was as big as some of my grown pigeons!wouldn't want one like that in my loft!
Greybear23 I thought about you today when I was at the local auction. They had several grown game roos that someone was getting rid of. I was bid on one but let him go to someone else for #11. He was a goldenduckwing color. The rest were red and black. They were all very large, must have had some maylayor or smething in them. They all went for less than the one I bid on. I kept thinking"I need to buy those and take them back to Okla!" They sold some game pullets(small bantam size) for #3.50 each.
I wanted to buy some turkey babies but didn't want to pay the price. Figured later they were proably worth it.They were bantam size ,feathered out, went for from $5-7 each. Some were slates couple of whites. I am just to tight to go to an auction! Then I regret it later!lol. They also had a beautiful sma;; pgymy nanny with kid that brought $60. I really like her.
Sounds like you all are getting wet. We warmed back up and have a smog alert.

Our girls are doing fabulous! There were a few squabbles which was to be expected, but all in all it was a smooth transition! The youngsters went to the barn, and the older girls and the blue copper maran cockerel went into the big coop. Houdini is such a gentle girl, and well behaved. She is a doll! The barred rock hen (Ms. Bossy) found out that a few of my hens are tougher than she is! When she finally submitted, it was over. Peace again! The Brabanters are comical and fit right in. They are very active and fun to watch. The salmon faverolle is a gem also.
It is so nice and such a relief to see the flock looking and acting like it should. It has been a long time it seems since they have looked so good. It does my heart good!
Coral, you will have to drag John to some sort of chicken event so that he can meet all of your crazy chickens friends!

My chicks are coming up on 6 weeks. when should I let them roam their chicken run? It's completely enclosed and secured from above so I have very little fear of predators, but I do worry that they might get lost and not find their way back in to food and water. Am I being unnecessarily worried?
