Pics would be so nice of your project. Especially the turner. Most find that to be the stumbling block, or I did anyways. LOL

Teva and I are both getting ready to go in and relax for awhile. She has to get up at 5:30 in the morning and I will follow shortly afterwards to go to work.

Teva is still hatching out of her Turkey flock and I think that as long as they lay she will be putting eggs in the bator. LOL

It looks like tonight the rain will pass to the West of us and for now that is ok with me. By now the grass should all be brown so I don't have to mow anymore!.

Added another 9 Muscovies to my flock this evening. These are more beiges and browns in contrast to the greys and blacks and greens that I previously had. Also added 25 muscovy eggs to the 'sportsman. It is now "mostly full" so I need for some to hatch next weekend before I acquire more hatching eggs.

The turkey hen only got 2 of the 3 poults beneath her to protect from the rain, so I am guessing that it was the one she didn't hatch that didn't get beneath her body for shelter. I guess the other 4 poults will remain in the brooder until they are fully feathered out.

Have you got extra newspaper or can get a bunch of them? Papercrete may be in your future then.

http://www.papercrete.com/

Actually I was thinking about that myself. I am a fair hand at both papercrete and earth cement. From my exprience earth cement tends to last longer and takes less work. When I was experimenting with both I made a bunch of blocks. The paper has to be schredded and soaked for a number of days for it to break down enough to bond with the portland cement. Plus I use all the schredded paper I get to line the nesting boxes and brooders, than off to the composter to start over again as dirt. The papercrete is lighter as well but does not do well when there is a lot of moisture (like right now).
I have very sandy soil so if I do decide to make the blocks myself (because of time that is a BIG maybe) I will go earth cement. All it takes is dirt, portland cement, water and a drill with a paint mixer attached, unless someone wants to lend me their cement mixer.

"STIMPY'S STATUS"

I recieved a call late last night from ( Lou ) Stimpy's wife, where she updated me on his medical status. she asked me to post the following info on his condition.

Kieth is back in the hospital and there is a perferation in the repaired portion of his Colon, the Doctors can't go back in right now to repair it as they say it is too dangerous right now, the are doing a CAT scan today to try and locate the hole. He is heavely sedated and they have him on several antibiotics and a restricted diet to help control any infection. Lou say's Kieth is really sick right now and is battling hard, she asked us all to pray and keep their family in our thoughts.

Sorry Les, my eyelids weren't staying in place! LOL. I went to bed.

glad she is hatching, I didn't have very good luck hatching turkeys, I will try again in the fall.

We just got out grass mowed before the rain & you can't tell it now but it is giving my crape myrtles water so I don't have to.

morning everyone! happy birthday Sooner!! you're a july child too??? Cool!!

bathed the dog in that lemon dawn and this morning went out and checked him, didn't see any fleas on his back! wow!

looks like the teens and the main flock are now on speaking terms, very little chasing going on- so that makes the main flock 14 plus the roo with a couple others too small yet...whew! The ducks have decided their pool is preferable to slimy pond water...too funny! and poser is growing up to be a beauty! no honks yet- but quite the showoff
