Monty : I never got the chance, the auction didn't go that long and Eric just went ahead and finished it out. It may have been a blessing in disquise LOL. It's coming to the end of a long hot summer and the auctions are in that stall period before fall and show season, it will pick up again once people start to shed stock for the winter, nobody likes to feed alot of birds during the winter.

How was the BBQ contest ??, did you gather any good info we can use ??, and don't be Bogarting any good recipes or tip's LOL.

Well so far I am running behind and dragging said behind...

we are trying some new stuff on our end of the school...requires lots of energy and creativity but I hope it works...state passed a bill that will make student scores 35% of our evaluation in a few years...it won't stand up to a trial but...we are trying to raise scores...mainly our ACT...trying to get kids to think about stuff after high school

I don't know about that brother of mine...haven't hollered at him in about a week...need to do that...last I talked to him he was about to eliminate some more foxes...

I am down to 220!

Al, I didn't get to talk shop too much. The coolest thing I saw there was two guys smoking in a pair of 55 gallon barrels. Considering these are among the best pitmasters in the world I was surprised.
They were right in the middle of guys with $20,000 smokers and they held their own and finished pretty high overall.
If I had seen guys using barrels in some of the smaller events I have done I wouldn't have been surprised but at this event I thought it was too cool.
Not sure what happened with Johnnie Trigg. He placed fourth in one category. Brisket I think. But never got a call in the others. I was surprised. Perennial power Mike Davis didn't do any better but he and Trigg were both very nice guys.

Sorry you didn't get to auctioneer Maybe next time. It is about time for me to cull some pullets. I would love to keep them all but like you said, I don't want to have to feed them all winter. I have some roos to cull as well.
