You could render fat from a deer but considering they don't have much fat it would be along time getting enough. I haven't & most likely won't try to render fat for a while. Time constaints would be a major draw back.

I doubt a soap called "Rendered Goose" would sell very well.

The bacon grease part of Grandma's lye soap was alright, but the grease left over from beef wasn't anything you would want to "eat". Of course, Grandma's pie crusts made with lard were very good. Maybe if I start cooking some of these ducks I can save the grease and make duck soap.

No not yet, I am picking out my next scents with Madison's help.....

Don't forget the special hunter's soap for Matt !

No Doe Pee soap! I want him to shoot them not have to run for his life.

Matt gets unscented & he's happy with that.

I didn't see that about the bears. We don't get that news out here. Wow...first day...guess I won't make that drive later on this year.

My friend has a lease near Antlers. They have been seeing bears and he killed a huge hog.

Sooner...need to teach you about corn fed deer. Them dudes get fat! There really isn't alot of hunting pressure out here...some of these guys get big...you don't brag unless it goes over 200 lbs. Lots of folks brag...plus I might know a place that feeds deer all year long with the idea of letting a bunch of old guys bring their grandkids out and have fun...yeah..we know the deer are there and all that but we only get to shoot specific deer...some of them even get names...some of which you can repeat and others well...they really want some deer killed. Last year it was a certain 6 pt. There is one old deer called WOW...it can't get killed...ever.

What do leases go for out that way? They get like $1 and acre here! I know but you lease 1000 acres to hunt like 10...

Les and Monty,
I thought of each of you today as I explained to my nephew what the birds without very many feathers on their neck are and about their thriftiness and heat tolerance. Monty - those two blue NN roos are practically tied at the hip - they stay together in the yard.

Bill with the mis-shapen egg I would bet that those birds have Infectous Bronchitous. The problem with Resp. diseases is that they have the same general symptoms. Wrinkled eggs is the classic symptom of IB. With coryza it's the smell and with a Mycoplasm infection it's the fact that it will re-appear in about two weeks after stopping antibiotic treatments.

Here is the info on IB and there is an egg pic on this page.

I don't have any idea on the cost of a lease. I guess I haven't seen any that fat, does it make it harder to clean?

Monty, I didn't ask him & won't~ No soap on a rope.....Maybe someday.
