If you really want to know about the weather ask the Native Americans:

It was autumn, and the Indians on the reservation asked their new Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a new Indian Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets, and when he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared.
But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"
"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the meteorologist at the weather service responded.

So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Is it going to be a very cold winter?"

"Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it's going to be a very cold winter."

The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find. Two weeks later he called the National Weather Service again.

"Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"

"Absolutely," the man replied. "It's going to be one of the coldest winters ever."

"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.
The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting wood like crazy!"

We lost 2 birds last night. Just looking for opinions. Found them on the ground by the ramp to their house. Not a mark on them I could see, just wet, stiff and flattened.

I'm thinking they were stragglers and the wet and cold got them. However, we were a little late locking up last night. It had already been dark for at least an hour.

They were not on the ramp or under/over the house when I locked up. That much I know for sure.

I was planning on planting out my little vermiponics garden on Sunday, but everything is going so well with the test run, I did it today. I have raab broccoli, kale, mix lettuce, spinach, chives, rainbow chard. Now I wait and see if anything sprouts.

I know that some jobs require extra scheduling of co-workers when you want to take off, but in Oklahoma it is difficult to predict the weather 2 days out, let alone 2 weeks out. . . . that would be tough to guess the right timing to schedule off for outdoor projects.

Sorry you were unable to get your projects done today. Were you able to spend some time outside yesterday since it was a State holiday? Except for misting rain in the morning that made me hesitant to get feed in the pickup, it was a nice day here yesterday.
