morning guys!

snow- supposed to get some sunday nite, monday, tuesday and ice friday... hmmmmm have heard if you put a tennis ball in the water, it will keep it from freezing, anyone here that?

I don't want snow or rain, call me selfish, it will delay me moving in! Boo

Tennis balls huh? Never heard of that, wonder how or why that would work?

I don't know about tennis balls. I've got a regular high dollar heated waterer (hate it) for outside and a cheapy popcorn tin heated one on the inside (love it) so I haven't had to break any ice this year.

If/when I get the outbuilding converted to pens, someone had a thick, long run of PVC with a float valve that they said never froze I may look into something like that.

I love google, it had some talk about putting a ball in the horse buckets so the horse drinking would keep the ball moving thus keeping the water from freezing. When it did freeze just remove the ball bust the ice & then put it back. I don't know if that would work for a chicken since the chicken wouldn't keep the ball moving as a horse drinking would. Let us know if you try it Robin.

Dead today...

Coyotes came through last night. They woke me up with all their howling & carrying on.

I shot a possum last night, unfortunately it killed a hen that was sitting some eggs.
