Howdy, y'all!
Allright, I am new to forums, and new to poultry so I will give this a shot and explain a little of what I am doing. Any advice would be much appriciated.
First and foremost, Like I said above, I am new to raising poultry. I purchased an incubator while deployed to Afghanistan and put it to use when I got home. I enjoy hatching eggs and raising the chicks to full grown birds. Due to space restrictions I currently only keep a barred rock hen and a little rhode island red to keep my family supplied with eggs, but will be expanding the coop soon, so more will be kept later. Everything else I have given away to friends and family. I am interested in the possibilty of selling some poultry to show my wife a little return for the hobby that she doesn't really understand. I currently have 18 black austrolp eggs in the "bator", that should be hatching on 4/20, and 24 pearl guinnea eggs on the way. I have been buying my hatching eggs from
ebay and have had realatively good luck, anyone agree or disagree with this?
How old to the chickens need to be before I can consider selling them? What can I expect them to bring? Is an auction necessarily the best place to sell? I am from central Oklahoma, wellston, to be more specific, does anyone know times and dates of the Harrah and Perkins auctions? I don't mind travelling if need be, anyone suggest another auction?
I am open to any suggestions. Your advice would be much appriciated!
