Old and Rare Breeds

Here are my bantam WF Black Spanish. I acquired my original birds from eggs laid by birds taken directly from Joe Templeton's place. After Joe passed away, a friend of mine met his sons who had been maintaining the birds but were tired of them taking care of them so he bought all the birds they had left, I got egg form them about 5 years ago and have been working on lengthening the back and whitening the faces. These are great birds and have done very well in shows.

Good work!

Do you have any Blues in that bunch?

The White Faced Black Spanish as the first non-Game bird brought to the Americas should, in my opinion, really be bred and kept by more folks.

If some one is looking for an easy bird to raise that needs more breeders which also has a unique historical connection with the Americas then this is the bird of choice. Besides, they are beautiful as well with the contrast of black, white and red.

I haven't weighed her, do you have any pictures of your birds?
Hi OSUMan. I like your hen. type looks good and tail spread is nice, back slope is nice. In this photo you can tell that her face is extending below the wattles which is what you want. You don't see them that often with this extension of face, UNIFORM chalk white to boot. This is a good example of the breed. Have you weighed her? She appears well filled out. For anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to feel these birds (LF), don't let the slight build fool you. These birds are DENSE! My cockerels seem to put on weight overnight, they are heavy - weight for cocks should be 8 lbs.

Way back when we started with show chickens, we ended up with a group of 3 roosters and 1 hen WFBS. The hen was good but the roosters moved in a pack like veloceraptors and would attack anything in their path. We had too many issues with the roosters and also with the cold weather up here. They were fun to watch though

Standards or bantams?

Does anyone know the relationship between the Andalusians and the WFB Spanish?

Of course all the medit. have Games as their ancestors but I mean more recent than that.
