Yep lavender is a whole separate gene. But I agree, the sun can cause it to fade and look like leakage.

I’m in Wood Co, almost over to the Ohio River. But my hubby comes to Berkeley Springs and Keyser regularly for business :)

Girls look good! Great color. If you breed them and get any black, you’ll know the male isn’t pure for lavender. I figure he is, just saying if you did happen to get black chicks, that would explain it. Lol

July 14th here! :highfive:
(Many many years before you though) :gig
I’m also seeing that my cockerel has white, rather than slate colored legs. :hmm

So I might have to breed/hatch several chicks to get a nice roo, and if that doesn’t work, I might resort to buying one :)

Does anyone have a good way to tell the difference between OEGB, Japanese Batam and serama. I’m not really all that familiar with any of them and in pictures they look very similar especially hens/pullets.
I don’t have a “good” way, somehow I just see them and I automatically know. The body-shape I guess for me.

Japanese bantams have short, squatty, yellow legs, whereas OEGBs either sport normal-length pink or slate. I believe Seramas are smaller than OEGBs and Japanese. Thinking they don't come in specified color varieties, either, but don't take my word for it. :)

Body type also plays a role in differentiating the breeds.

So OEGBs can have pink-y legs? Okay, that’s great to know, thank you!
