MITES:
Yes, the Frontline spray is for dogs so using it on your chicken is off-label use. I've never had any luck treating mites with Ivermectin so I reach for the Frontline spray, which my chicken vet recommends. I treat the birds and coop with it. It's very effective and easy to apply.

BUMBLEFOOT:
For inflammation and as a painkiller, I use Metacam - orally given x2 daily. It's an NSAID - like aspirin. (I keep a supply on hand because it's good stuff.)

I treated it topically with silver sulfadiazine cream and Neosporin w/out pain relief. (Also good stuff to keep on hand.)

As the general antibiotic, I used Baytril 100 - orally given, x2 daily. If you suspect the infection is running up her leg, you will need a strong antibiotic.

PATIENCE AND DILIGENCE:
It took so long for it to clear up because there was a lot of trial and error... Trying to sort out what combination of medicines had the best effect, etc.

I am lucky to have two vets in my area that will see chickens - one is a poultry specialist and the other is a generalist, meaning she sees enough of them to be able to simple things, like lance, drain and flush the bumblefoot.

Update: Ari is happy and active, pooping SOLID poops! (woot)
I weighed her today using a human scale, so not sure just how accurate it is. Her by herself read 8.0lbs, with me it read 7lbs. So somewhere between 7-8lbs she weighs.

I swear she feels heavier than that, so either I'm weak or the scale is wrong

Weigh something that is sort of "known" like a bag of sugar maybe? See how close your scale is.

It is a nondescript human scale that doesn't seem to pick up low weights.

I see. It's hard to get a weight with those. You tried weighing yourself and then yourself with her?
