OMG!!! First Game Cam pic ever. Huge Funny thread

Just looks like a cat (domestic) to me. I have one that is 20 pounds and striped. He likes to watch the chickens, but he is just too big to haul himself over the fence. Your giant kitty looks very well fed and was probably just "prowling" around. Usually, if they are fat and sassy, full grown chickens are just too much work for them. I have never had any kitty problems; just curious watchers.

Sure looks like a awful big "domestic" cat to me... I'm guessing by looking at everything around it and comparing how far away from the 4 foot picket fence that this thing is close to 3 foot tall... I would say that is a MOUNTAIN LION... can you set up the camera in a location where you can put some bait out for it like a pound or two of raw hamburger to get some better photos???... and place something by the bait to size it up

It is NOT a domestic kitty. I wanted to get some perspective on just how large it was, so I just went outside and placed a nice bit of sardine and my 10-12 pound old domestic kitty in the same spot. (He was disgruntled until he smelled the fish)

Then I took this shot from the same post that the game cam was set on that night.

Give me a minute to download from camera...OK here it is (wooden picket fence is just a garden enclosure, property fence is down the hill out of sight. (The blue tarps cover a 4x6 unused chick coop)

I didn't say I would do anything about the cat, except reinforce my coop.

I do have an unused charger in the shed. (Can't believe I forgot about it- was used for a garden at one time). You might be right about that, why didn't I think of electric wire, it's cheaper than cattle panels if I already have a charger!

Thanks you guys.

That's what I was thinking. Some domesticated cats can be rather large and that one doesn't really have the shape of a Mt. Lion...

Sorry, not trying to make this personal, but that is NOT any kind of domestic cat. Look at the daylight one where it IS her pet, then look at the night time one. Her pet's butt comes to the bottom of the seat of the chair, the mtn lion's back amost reaches the ARM of the chair. Also the thickness of the tail is an indicator, they use them like rudders when running to help them turn. I had a friend in Colorado Springs that had one come right up on his back deck, I'm going to look for that pic.

It makes sense that he'd go to the pond for a drink, it'd also be where he'd check out other scents too. It may just be coming for a good drink of water, but he (she?) is bound to be very aware of what smells interesting food wise too!
