Your chick might have spadle or splayed leg. You might have to splint it. Lots of information on the net on how to do it. I had a malposition chick in my last batch like your one, pipped wrong. It also had only one leg out sideway. Sadly my one didn't get better and died a couple of day later. Hopefully your chicks leg sorts itself out

So, I have made it a sling out of a sock and a table with food and water and a fence to keep the active chick from picking on it. I just need to get some vet tape to make a splint. I have been stretching it backwards like when the stretch their legs and it does not complain. It tried to stand up but after a few seconds it was down again. I am pretty comfortable with the diagnosis of an Achilles Tendon slipping out of place. I will get a splint put on it tonight and see what the next few days brings. It loves egg yolk, but does not like being fed water with a dropper. It is an interesting time.

I think you're done a great job with the sling idea. Little chick doesn't look unhappy about it and has the company of his hatch mates. Hopefully it will work. Good luck

I had to redo my first setup as the chick was able to get itself out of the sock. Here is my new setup. 2 more days and hopefully a little therapy and it will be good to go.

So, it does not appear that the chick is cured. Its legs go out to the side now. So I have put the splayed let splint on it. But do I just let it lay on the floor and flop around or what? Ugh, I dont know what to do at this point.

Sorry but your chick might be to old to fix now as there is only a small window of opportunity to fix leg problems like this. Sometimes they aren't fixable. It's a really cruel thing to happen as otherwise chick is healthy. You may need to cull I sorry to say.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct. I have figured out another setup and I will see how it does by the end of the day. My husband goes back to work for a week tomorrow and I dont have the heart to cull the poor little thing. It is such a fighter. Hopefully there is some sign of improving.
