DAr, I would use Dawn dish soap when you finally want to get the greaSE OF HER FEATHERS. aFTER ALL, THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE USING ON THE POOR BIRDS IN THE GULF SPILL AND IT IS SAFE FOR THE BIRD. i HOPE SHE GETS BETTER. i ALSO HAVE DEALT WOTH SICK CHICKENS, WHILE i LOVE MY BIRDS, i DO UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS HARD TO DECIDE AT WHAT COST..oops, hit the caps key, sorry. As I was saying, it is hard to come up with money to treat our 4 legged pets and fortunately, this forum is extremely helpful with treatments for chickens. As long as she seems to be improving, I think you are doing the right thing, It just upsets me that some people posted they would not ever pay to vet a chicken, yet if a coon or other predator killed the bird they would be up in arms. If people cannot deem vetting their pets, and I am referencing our indoor pets, then they should not have pets, or other animals, but at least you are doing as you can, and I would be doing the same...let us know. After all, it is US that choose to own THEM, so we are responsible for a certain level of care, and if at all financially possible, for the best care we can give. One more thing, just keep an eye on your other birds that they do not catch it if it is contagious.
