So while all the rest of the duck eggs where duds and not even fertile I was wondering if They would ever mate.. the boy has pretty much just been friends with my female... he is two years old and has been paired up with this female for a year and nothing.... they swim, nap, cuddle and groom but nothing past good friends. the female seems to call the shots..lol
He was with out a mate at his old home and was beat up when I got him.
They have the sound of running water to get them in the mood...
at the last of the mating season after all 11 eggs where a big nothing, I seen him sort of act a little bit pushy, sometimes he would herd her towards the water pan.. not mating of course... but I thought well at least he is acting a bit more into her...
I put the last egg she laid under a hen and marked it... thinking it would be a dud also and no hope...
And found this one day! he has chicks so he is not totally alone but I wish he could of had a duck pal to grow up with....
