It's a huge downer. I think that's part of the problem why the thread is stalked now. There isn't a way to know who will be the "rotten egg" of the offers. I'm sorry you are having trouble too isadream!

I think i owe someone sumatra eggs

if i do can you please pm me, one of my girls went broddy and everytime i go to check eggs, the otehrs are laying in the same nest, so i can not ship any out until my broody is done, becouse i dont know how long she has been laying on some of the eggs.

See that's just wrong. They shouldn't be allowed to participate in other swaps then. It really burns me up.

If I ever forget to send eggs, please let me know. We have a very busy place here but I try to keep everything journaled on my Windows calendar. That way its right there.

I think that the main reason for the slow down is the weather/heat. I know that I'm done 'til fall and I even pulled the boys to give the hens a break. It's just too hot.

I agree that there should be some kind of reporting for those that won't make things right somehow. There are always unforeseen problems but if there isn't any response/communication, that's not right.

I know with me I gave up cause I just never know if the eggs will show. We haven't had any heat here so I hadn't been thinking like that till I started reading it here.

I didnt give up trading because of that I just gave up on that one batch of eggs---Its just a risk we take I guess--the reason I stopped is because all my girls but my polish went broody. I have 4 fuzzy butts all crammed on one nest!! My sizzles, silkies and cochins are all broody right now and even one of my pure Ameraucana's is broody!!! 3 of 5 of my turkey hens are broody--the other 2 must be on strike! LOL

I took that as my hint to stop trading! All I have is mutts and some polish!

Edited to make it more clear!! Didnt sound right!

I have alot of broody's too. Then I check fertility constantly here as well. I don't check fertility by cracking eggs and looking for a bullseye. So from every nest at least once a week I throw several eggs into an incubator to check for fertility. Ten days ago, I threw 9 eggs into an incubator from one of my breeds and none of them were fertile when I checked them at 7 days and then again today.

I cracked the eggs open and several had bullseyes yet they hadn't ever developed. I'm glad I caught it before I sent these eggs out for sale. Now I can switch things up and check for fertility in another week.

There's a lot more to buying/selling/trading eggs than I ever thought when I got involved in this.

I have gotten the bad egg several times but it doesn't stop me from trading , my current situation has placed me on the slow side of trading eggs , quailbrain you know I like for anyone who gets my eggs to have a good hatch and I will send more eggs to them if they don't , so this is why I'm sending ebonyann more eggs and I owe renegaderidgefarm eggs for helping me out with oegb eggs sonce I lost all my birds and I owe dipence ameracauna x ee eggs and I lost that roo but I found a new one but I don't like him as well as my white roo I had tho

but he will make pretty chicks , but on a plus side to me loosing so many birds I have added more as od sat and sun I added more silkies , white cochins , black oegb , black and blue crested ducks , blue and black and cuckoo marans , ameraucans and ee and a few more leghorn and a beautiful speckled sussex roo who I believe I will place with my ameraucana and ee hens with the other roo for even prettier chicks
