OMG! Tell me about it... I got a box of eggs yesterday - and, of course, it had "fragile" written all over the box - an entire corner of the box was completely crushed in! It looked like the driver put the box in the driveway, backed over it, then set it on my stoop. Seriously, dude?

I set 24 eggs last month that I got 2 chickens to hatch out of. When I set eggs from my own barnyard chicken mixes I had 100% hatch rate... I'm not spending any more money on shipped eggs. I'll still do swaps because that usually only costs me about $10 to ship but I can't imagine that the folks who're getting my eggs through the mail are getting as good a hatch as I'm able to get at home.

Stoopid PO.

this is my first time with shipped eggs. i have gotten 3 boxes all eggs mostly ok. 40 bantam - 2 cracked. 10 wyandottes no cracks- 8 wellsummers all ok.

I upgraded from a LG to a brinsea eco 20. i know i have some that are developing. not sure what #s i have.

I got a box of eggs in the mail yesterday - should have been to me saturday.... no dents in the box, etc. but opened it up and had scrambled/crushed/cracked eggs. 5/12 made it. No fault of the sender. just the PO's rough handling. the only ones i paid for were off ebay and they were the bantam ones. the others were from swaps/trades. but i dont see spending a ton of money on shipped eggs either.

the ones i have shipped out everyone said that they got them safe and sound. so it makes me feel good since i am pretty new at all of this packing/shipping eggs.

I know! How in the world does a box get shaken so badly that individually wrapped, well packed eggs get totally scrambled?

I swear that writing "fragile" on anything you're sending out (USPS, FEDEX, UPS, etc) will just be used in a warehouse soccer match!

I read somewhere that boxes marked "syrup" are handled carefully because it makes a big mess and they have to clean it up if it breaks because it gums up the machines. I have tried it a couple of times. Mostly I have had pretty good luck with shipping to others. I got 2 pms today about my eggs hatching that I shipped. Yay!

Are you upset if you get a swap for 6+ eggs and I only send you 8? I have done swaps in the past, before I lost most of my chickens, and I would send a ton of eggs. 6+ could have been 15 eggs. So I feel badly that I am only sending 8. I have 2 purebred hens and 8 eggs sometimes takes me 5 days. Any longer than that and I just don't feel right shipping them.

Tell me what you think.......

I expect at least 6. So I would be happy with 8. However, with that being said, if they arrived and more than 2 were broken, I would message you to let you know I didn't get at least the 6.

agreed.

I just recieved a batch of eggs off of ebay. 12 total (auction was for 10+) one egg was broken with yolk on 2 others and 4 eggs were mis-shaped with thin shells. It looked as though maybe their chickens are lacking calcium. I personally wouldn't even set those in my own incubator let alone send them for a swap or sale! I feed them to the pigs as treats! Wonding if anyone has any input on how I should go about suggesting that thin shelled misformed eggs aren't appropriate for incubation/selling.... Normally I would just blow it off and not leave feedback, but I paid too much for this batch!

i just got 7 eggs from b-hen all safe and sound. thanks for the great packing.

monday a got a dozen from another member and only 5 made it. soooo i told them about it but not expecting more but to let them know about it, i should have gotten them on saturday so the po was hard on them.

I would definitely email them about the eggs being deformed/ thin shells. Maybe they need education. Maybe they will send you more after they give their chickens some oyster shells for a while! Give them a chance to make it right , if they refuse then post feedback accordingly.

Dear Seller, I am very disappointed in the quality of the eggs you sent. I understand the broken one is due to the PO rough handling, even though it contaminated two other eggs. I do have a problem with the ones that did arrive undamaged. Four of those were misshappen, and I do not set misshappen eggs due to lack of hatchability. I am not sure if the thin shells on them were due to the odd shapes, or a lack of oyster shells in their diet, but I expected eggs that I could incubate especially considering the price & breed of these eggs. Even though the auction was for 10, and you sent 12, I can only incubate 5 of those. (12 minus 1 broken minus 2 contaminated minus 4 misshappen) .. I would like to know if you are willing to work with me on this in regards to making this problem with the product itself right. I really would like to add this wonderful breed to my flock, and was looking forward to hatchable eggs. ..BlahBlah

If you get an attitude or no response whatever, after three days or something, I would open claim with ebay and or paypal. It is not a shipping issue when it is the eggs themselves.
