online Crazy Egg Chain Chat thread

I tried to teach my kids, but they were not interested . my older son did work as a carpenter assistant for a while and liked it. now he delivers pizzas:-S . I don't remember my dad teaching me to build, I just taught myself. Trial and lots of errors. But it is a good feeling to make useful things.

I'm self-taught too, somebody has to build these things! But mine are 'easy', PVC pipe runs and OSB houses

Does the osb stand up to the weather? I use plywood and paint with exterior paint. I get the oops stuff at Lowe's or Home Depot. I wish the rain would stop, I need to get outside.

What is OSB?
and whoops. The two DH has built so far, I have used interior paint.........the oops sections in the two lowes, one home depot, and two walmarts I went to did not have exterior oops paint.

OSB=oriented strand board. It's like plywood but made of big 'chunks' of wood glued together. It's also about 1/2 the price of plywood.

LOL My poor, poor, polish hens. They have no man, of their own breed for them. http://www.pic4ever.com/images/34efamg.gif

Mary, I WILL be placing them soon. I have them in, with my bantam partridge frizzle cochin roo, right now. Making some VERY VERY cute little babies. Once I'm able to find some partridge cochin hens for him, I will let you know....as I will be placing them, at that time...since I don't breed polish.

You have seen the pretty silkie/polish babies, they made for me. These little frizzle mixed chicks, are just the cutest!

Yes I will definately take them when you are ready to part with them. Yes they where cute little chickies.

Cresteds are always cute even if they are mixed.

I go to the home improvement store at least twice each time I go to town. That is, two different stores. I always look for exterior oops paint , even if I don't need it yet because I know I will at some point. Plus I check out building sites when the workers are there , and ask for scrap 2x4 and plywood. It is amazing what gets thrown out, I have gotten 8 foot sections of 2x4 with a few odd nails in them, totally free. And you can also sometimes get 2'x4' pieces of heavy duty plywood free. Lowe's will often let you have skids, which are pieces of wood 3 to 4 feet long they use to ship boards. Some of them are even pressure treated. I already spend a fortune feeding the critters, so I try to save on building their shelters and nest boxes. Oh, I get those potato bins made of wood, put a shelf in the middle and it makes 2 nest boxes
Goodwill often has the used ones as well as old bread boxes. It works, and it is cheap and easy;-)

Yay! I got the enlarged run finished for the buckeyes! They are loving it! Next is finishing the other run I am working on. Just the door and the space next to it, plus digging trenches to bury wire on 2 sides. I bought a pair of Coronation Sussex today, so that will be their pen. I already had some light Sussex and needed a roo. Perfect!:-D

Ok I will post here too, I think I got "the look" the other day for posting some chit chat.

I currently have 12 adults and 77 babies.
