What is OSB?
and whoops. The two DH has built so far, I have used interior paint.........the oops sections in the two lowes, one home depot, and two walmarts I went to did not have exterior oops paint.

OSB=oriented strand board. It's like plywood but made of big 'chunks' of wood glued together. It's also about 1/2 the price of plywood.

Ok now I am amazed and thats hard to do lmbo
Shelleyd actually knew what osb stood for

Ok, who else is entirely sick of rain? Every time I go out to feed the animals it starts raining. On a happy note , I bought a pair of lavender orps today, and a pair of coronation Sussex! I needed a rooster for my light Sussex pullets. Guess what, I need more coops!:-D

How are your hatches going with shipped eggs? Seems like I am getting a bit better at it, but still throw out a lot of eggs. This is an expensive hobby. Then someone on another thread said feed prices are going to go way up. Just what we don't need!

This has been my worst year ever for shipped eggs.

I tossed 16 earlier today........two were rotten & all the others were either completely scrambled or severely detached air cells. A lot more earlier quitters than usual too -those seem to be the ones that go bad- and I don't candle until day 18 - so by then some are ROTTEN!!!!!!!!

My best development on shipped eggs so far, is showing to be ducks, turkeys & guineas. Not sure how they will be doing come hatch day though!

I had a whole Bator full of shipped eggs I set on the same day, so it was not a staggered hatch. Not a single egg pipped.

But eggs I bought locally and my own hatch great in there. I think we are making the po rich and they are scrambling our eggs:p

I had 3 bators full and only got about a dozen chicks. This time around another 3 bators full and I've gotten 10 but not all are done hatching. They went in lock down on the 15th and started to hatch that same night. Which was night before last. Most of them hatched yesterday and I woke up to 2 more. I have so far 4 ducklings, 2 bbs orphs, 3 silkies, 1 pheasant. There is a guinea that pipped yesterday and still nothing. All of those showed movement when I candled so I expected them to hatch but not yet. They aren't due yet either but the rest of them are early

All of the silkie chicks had leg problems. One I may have to work with because it's legs are out to the side still and it hatched yesterday afternoon. The other two where already geting their legs up under them after a couple of hours.

Strange thing is those that make it to lock down haven't all been hatching. I opened the pheasant eggs that didn't hatch, 7 of them and all where just a few hours from being ready to pip if not ready. And one had pipped internally then died. I wonder if i'm doing something wrong. I've spent alot of money on shipping like everybody else has. And the cost of feed is going up again. When these chicks grow up so I know which are staying I may be done hatching for the year unless they come from my birds of course. I'll probably start selling the eggs to help with feed costs. I usually don't charge much anyway for the eggs.

I've been trying to build my flock up and haven't had alot of luck. I've had 7 silkies hatch so far and 2 of those are from my flock that my house chicken sat on. I have 10 eggs under broody's now from my flock. I'll be handing out more soon. May as well use then since hey know what they're doing and my bators don't. lol

This has been happening to me too. Makes me ill that they get so close and then..... My eggs have been hatching like crazy here at home. I have only shipped 2 batches so far and haven't heard how they are doing after shipment.

I hope as well as here, they sure are adorable little things.

BTW, I took a couple of pics of the 3 silkies I got from your eggs. They are so adorable.
