i sent a box out priority mail to someone who i could drive to in less than 4-5 hrs (in my same state). I sent it on a Saturday... it went to mass. and who knows where it got lost. finally got delivered 1 week later.

i talked to my po and they said on Saturdays the mail could go anywhere it doesn't get sorted locally. so instead of going south to Albany it got sent to mass instead.

so my advise don't ship on Saturdays. I wont do that again. the eggs were not broken, but we had a week of 90+ degrees and they were cooked and scrambled.

hagood advice, pretend the PO is CLOSED on Saturday, unless you are picking up eggs of course but no sending them out LOL.

I got my EE eggs today! I got a PM from Mike and my RP eggs should be here about Monday, yipee!

The sussex shipped to me are still missent. I think they may have gone out of the country, because there would have been some mention if they passed through a US post office. So far, nothing since 6/15.

Those eggs are probably sitting in a bin somewhere, or the back of a truck. I had a show dog that was almost accidentally sent to JAPAN! Thank goodness I had put the lady's phone number on the crate in large numbers and they called her! But that was not the USPS! Once they start to stink, someone will discover them

I had the same thing happen to me. It was weeks before they arrived by then they where no good. I was hoping they where someplace they wouldn't find till they started to smell.

Unfortunately 2 had started to smell but not enough to make them pay for loosing the box for so long.

Hey Em, I just got some quail eggs on the egg chain! Now what?? Do I need a permit in TN to keep quail? I tried looking online but got lost in red tape. What kind of quail do you have?

You don't need anything as far as I know. I've sold quail at the livesotck auction and also bought some and nobody ever needed anything. Maybe if you go big and sell to restaurants or something like that. I never even looked. I should call the lady that does the NPIP testing. She would know. I'll make a note to myself to call her monday.

Does anybody know the purpose of Chiggers? I see no use for them other than to make us miserable. Everyday I get 3 or 4 new spots. Last year I looked like I had been eaten alive by mosquitos. The last time we counted all the spots as I was getting dabed with fingernail polish I had 152 bites and we stopped counting, so there where more. I've got about 15 now.

Chiggers are little mites that exist to suck blood by boring a tube into the skin. I had so many bites one time the doctor couldn't understand why I didn't rip myself apart. They gave me an anti itch pill to take at night so I can sleep. Now I spray myself several times a day and it does help decrease bites. It is my theory that insects are taking over the world. If you don't believe it, try to find one square foot outdoors without a bug in it. Never happens. I had a tick on my ear tonight. I was swearing and DH was laughing. I will probably need to be tested for Lyme disease again.i have had a lot of tick bites this year, and they usually get red and swell up.
Got the big chicken tractor dragged around from the front of the barn to Chicken City. It used to be shady there, until the blasted bugs killed the big oak tree. I chained the tractor up to the Mule and got it done. Saw a mouse running around inside, it has been empty for a while, so no chickens to eat the miserable mice. Then I cleaned out the old bedding and perches. Want to spray and put new perches before I get the young birds out of the barn and put them in there. They are going to love being outside !
So today I went to feed the goats, and there were Thelma and Louise on grapevine hill AGAIN. I keep adding more wire to the fence but at this point I am fed up and I am going to take them back to auction. I am also selling my spotted black and white doe . She has been jumping fences , I am really over this nonsense. I was trying to wean off her doeling but they kept escaping and getting back together. So she kept producing more milk for this big kid and now she is getting mastitis out of it. I had to catch her, which was a circus. Then I got her trapped in a stall and she is trying to hide and throwing herself on the ground. I am tired and hot and not in the mood. I am wondering why I have goats at all. Oh yeah, they are so cute. Then they grow up.
oh yeah, em, what kind of quail do you have?

Here in KY we can have less than 50 without one, I don't know if that's the same everywhere though.
