Open front coop done, chicken yard in progress

The blue boy was a hormone fueled beast with the dominant roos in a cage this morning. He didn't care about the little black roo, he was busy chasing the ladies and keeping an eye out for the others to return. He tried calling them to the treats but the upset from removing the dominant roos proved a bit much for the girls. They also didn't get to go out to the big yard for scratch so that was another change. I'll be working on that this week.

Combs are growing and turning pink on the pullets now, so we're adding a community nest box. It's 18"X4.5' and will go under the poop board. I've let Igor make it from wood he had here, but it won't last long with deep litter and I tried to explain that. He didn't want to hear what I was saying even though he calls me boss. Need to go get some golf balls.

The nn chick cracks me up! I need to lower the heat plate when I clean the brooder today.

The mini coop will be put on pavers next weekend and get some shade cloth for the front along with sanitizing the hut and interior of the coop itself. It'll be too hot for permanent relocation but these 2 littles will start spending some time outside next week.

Yea, supposed to be...I'm guessing EE...it came from a feed store.

It's more than likely headed to my sons place when it gets older...I don't really want any more EEs in the flock..

Oh no not at all. I just needed a friend for the nn chick so I picked a Leghorn because I didn't want a sexlink or RIR. They said all the EEs were gone.

I've had a couple EE that hardly had the chipmunk stripes.
