Opinions? Help needed!! What is this noise my ayeslbury is making?

He pounds after squirrels or anything that comes into the garden haha! He’s very protective of them however he flushes out pheasants like no tomorrow when he’s on a walk 😁

I’ll keep you posted on this awful crunching noise, hopefully her gizzard calms soon because the sounds makes me feel rather queasy 🥴

Just had her out in the garden for 20 minutes with the others supervised and hurrah! An egg has been laid! It’s harder than the other one which was literally a jelly shell but it was very thin and has a lot of dimpled markings on it. Hopefully they will improve and get thicker as she has more calcium 😁

:yesss: That is awesome news!! Yes I think as they get more calcium their egg shells get harder. When I see more than one soft shell from someone that’s when I give them the calcium gluconate.

I’ll be sure to give her some once it arrives 😌 Cracked the egg for them so they could share the shell and of course she takes a tumble into the yolk, the perils of being blind hahaha, she’s so precious 🥰

🥹 hi all!

This noise is still persisting and to me it’s something chest related for sure, she hasn’t laid an egg since the last one I posted though.. I can’t feel anything but the noise to me warrants me going to the vets again next week when the jubilee is over and done with.

I went to put my dear Iris back into her enclosure today and all of a sudden she cannot stand on her right foot, she’s not waking properly and flattening her wings out across the ground and falling over. She’s been seen as an emergency as I thought she had broken her leg however they are saying her leg moves normally and it seems like right sided weakness, the vet said there may be an egg quite far up which could be causing the right side discomfort so they are going to xray but she had laid an egg last night. I’m so confused, I’ve had to leave her there, she cannot support herself on he right side. I’m so worried, can anybody tell me what they could possibly think it is or wether they think it could be an egg? I’m in such stress, I hate having to leave her there 😭

Poor Iris!
Shes at the vets now? So she should be in safe hands. Try to hold tight and try not to worry too much while they figure this out.
It is possible it's an egg- when they have an egg stuck inside it can press on their nerves causing a limp/weakness in one or both legs.

My girl, Sprightly, went through the day with a bit of a limp, lying down a lot, and pumping her tail slightly. I was confused as well because she had laid an egg that morning.
I gave her calcium gluconate anyway, and after 10-15 minutes, out came an egg... And a minute after that, out came a second. She's never laid three in one day before that or since.
Sometimes they can lay multiple a day, though.

Keep us updated, hopefully the vets are able to quickly diagnose and get her back on her feet :hugs

Yes she’s there, they’ve told me to ring for an update at 17:30 so in 45 minutes. He said she seems to have discomfort on that side so perhaps it is that, it’s just strange how it happened so fast. She is still eating and drinking, they said she’s gone from 1.6 to 2kg now which is brilliant she’s put more weight on but I think we all agree on giving her the implant if it sustains her better and she is stronger and healthier. I’m so surprised it isn’t her leg though, they said it’s moving fine and there’s flexibility there, now is just the dreaded waiting that makes your anxiety a thousand times worse 😢 thank you for responding and I’ll keep you updated on my little Iris 💗 p.s (sprightly is a wonderfully unique name)!
