Have you tried doing a search on the internet? Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Try "zoning" and the name of your city or county. Some places have the information online where it is easy to find and read, some have it online but difficult (like a poorly-scanned .pdf that needs to be downloaded from an obscure page on a county website), and some are not online at all. If you are not able to find it online, I would try calling or visiting City Hall, as @cavemanrich suggested.

But if you want chickens, that is a very disappointing answer to get
