Oregon Fall Chicken Swap!! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10!!

not sure if we are "voting" per se - but the ones that posted a preference so far have mostly said Albany - so since we did Salem last time I suggest that for this one that we try the one by Albany - the site says that there are free picnic and bbq areas - but that the covered ones are for reservations and cost $ - but if they aren't being used by anyone paying they can probably be used - the park is 90 acres so lets try to narrow down the meeting place a bit - since there is probably a main entrance - we can maybe try for the first shaded picnic table area that is available as you enter? and whoever gets there first maybe can hang something bright on their car/antenna or something? or ??? any ideas? They didn't seem to have a map of the park itself that I could find.

There is a quite large war memorial there on one side of the park, don't know if it's near the picnic tables but I know there are trees etc. right by it...dunno, just a thought, an easily identifiable landmark at least!

Ok, I think since we have a couple of people who can only come if it is in Albany (they are on call I think I remember), let's try Albany this time.

Hi there,

I'm fairly new to chickens and I've never been to a swap before. Is money acceptable at a swap or does it have to be a trade?

Thanks for helping out this newbie. I can't wait to meet you all!

Hey OregonJen I sent you an email but I thought I would post here as well. If you have any Jersey Giant hens, we might be interested.

Also, since we live so close, we could maybe do this before or after the swap that way they wouldn't have to ride all the way to Albany to come all the way back down.

My Little Sister's Farm :

I'm so upset I can't go!!! I have to go to a wedding. I really want some dark, dark maran eggs and quail too.

Anyone from the Forest Grove area going?

I've purchased over 100 Marans hatching eggs and I only have 6 that have been dark enough to be a Marans egg according to the Marans egg color chart.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all of these psuedo-Marans I'm growing out.

Hey Bill,
If I can make up my mind if I am keeping my JG's or not, you will be first on the list to get them. Did the final location end up being Albany? OH I HOPE SO! My husband had to agree to take me to the poultry swap since my Birthday is the 11th, LOL! He isn't a big poultry fan but I think he finally likes the dairy goats.
