Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Everything that silkie said and hope to see you there! It is a great day and hopefully the weather will cooperate again.

I will have pullets available, bantam and standard size, but won't know the exact sex on most till next month or first of April.

Okay -

I have at least 7 pints of the cinnamon boysenberry jam, of which 3 are spoken for (Corgyhouse, zoomummzy, daze333). I also have:

2 1/2 pint jars of boysenberry
3 1/2 pint jars of orange marmalade
4 1/2 pint jars of low-sugar raspberry (no artificial sweetener)
3 pint jars of boysenberry apple
2 4 oz (small) jars of tomato orange marmalade (good!)
1 8 oz jar of raspberry

The oranges and apples came from the store, but the rest came from my garden.

I still can't make up my mind about the chicks... I will soon! I just figured out how to make more room in the coop by attaching the nesting boxes onto the side.

Wants -

silkiechicken -
Want: Another watermelon goat milk soap!

Have:
Plant Starts if all goes well:
Tomato: Roma, sweetie, gold nugget, early girl.

Herbs: Basil

Other: Morning glory-turns out my blue with yellow throat of last year were not as labeled! They really are darker blue with white throats.

Seeds: Nasturtium and Morning glory if you chose to direct sow

Vanilla Extract!!!

Real Madagascar beans from Madagascar and vodka! Not that ebay stuff from Paupa New Guinea and no sugar added to give off a fake sweetness. I've made them going by the federal minimum of about 14 ounces of beans per gallon of vodka, so there is about 3.5 beans per 4 ounce jar. Vanilla extract, not vanilla vodka. LOL $8 each or 2/$15. It is unfiltered and if you shake it up, you can get little vanilla specks in your baked goodies!

I am planning a spring order of BLRW chicks from Paul's in the spring and would be happy to add anyone elses order on to mine to split shipping costs. Minimum order is 12 chicks, I haven't decided yet how many I'm getting but we can work out details if anyone is interested. Depending on quantities I should be able to hold onto them until the spring swap unless an earlier pickup is arranged!

Wants - Hatching eggs, chicks or hens - polish, cochins (frizzled or straight feathered standard or frizzled bantam), silkies, turkeys, or anything else that is kind of interesting. a nice buff silkie roo and a cuckoo one if anyone has one. does anyone have any standard blue or splash or buff LF cochin roosters they are getting rid of? I would be into picking them up before the swap if possible.

Haves - I will hopefully have a bunch of nice silkies available, maybe some polish and various cochins. Is anyone a fan of NN/turkens? I might be hatching some bantams and standards and am just wondering if there will be some other people out there that might like some

Zoomummzy - I also ordered some of those crele polish eggs, I really hope mine hatch, but if not, maybe I can get some of yours. I'll probably also need to get a cheesecake again, they were delicious, I'm just not sure what kind yet.

More older Marans and Welsummer culls to come as I get them sorted.

Also commercial brooders are available

CathyM -

Have -
I have at least 7 pints of the cinnamon boysenberry jam, of which 3 are spoken for (Corgyhouse, zoomummzy, daze333). I also have:

2 1/2 pint jars of boysenberry
3 1/2 pint jars of orange marmalade
4 1/2 pint jars of low-sugar raspberry (no artificial sweetener)
3 pint jars of boysenberry apple
2 4 oz (small) jars of tomato orange marmalade (good!)
1 8 oz jar of raspberry

The oranges and apples came from the store, but the rest came from my garden.

Want -
I am leaning toward wanting cochins or silkies or wyandottes (I know - that doesn't narrow down too much)... not show birds; I just want pretty plummage in my backyard! I would love younger chicks, since I'd be quaranteening them for a month at least anyway... and likely in my garage/studio with a heatlamp, like I did with the six I have now... sigh... April feels too far away!

slurrywidow -
I do have "wants" and have seen some "haves" that match. Now I just need to narrow things down. So far I know I'd like Marans, Ameraucanas, Faverolles. As for the non-chicken items that I've seen listed such as the soap and plants starts and etc, it might be easier if I just say "Yes Please!" instead of listing seperately.

Just wanted to note that I am adding d'uccle x bantam Faverolles chicks to my list of "haves". Wasn't sure at first, but I'm getting 100% fertility from them.

Will you have LF Favs too? Did I decide if I wanted a LF or a bantam faverolles? I can't remember. I'm saving room for them!

I have an off subject question: Right now I don't have a Roo and I would like to get one. I do have children and would like a Roo that is gentle and can mix with a wide variety of hens. Is that even a possibilty?

I appreciate the help and being understanding of my learning curve.

Quote:
If you want Faverolles, I'd go with a Fav roo. They are AWESOME!!! I never have to worry about my son going into the Fav coop! Of course my large fowl Ameraucana boys are super sweet too!

Quote:
Hi Cathy,
On top of the cinnamon boyseberry jam I would LOVE all 4 1/2 pints of your low-sugar raspberry jam! I don't do sugar so was very excited to see that! The boysenberry is for the family.
PS I have lf cochins in bbs and partridge and will have silkies too!
Thanks!

Hope I do this right as a Newbie
Is the chicken swap like a huge group of people (ie swap meet like size) or just a few chicken lovers?
Does anyone bring hatching eggs?

Loving this site (brought home a pair of marans, 2 whites, and a welsummer to restart my flock - yippee) and hoping to expand my chicken flock and addiction.
