Orphan duckling

Update:
Thought I'd update everyone. We might actually be able to keep the duckling as last night I had overhead my parents talking about how our code enforcement doesn't say anything about us not keeping ducks.
Since the lady was fine with us keeping it a few days longer, I will be letting her know if we decide to keep it or not.
Unfortunately if we do keep it, we won't be able to get it buddies for about a few weeks. Good news though is our 5 baby chickens get along with it. They were actually keeping it warm and were snuggling with it. After waking up today, I thought someone took it out of the brooder because the baby chickens were all huddled around it, hiding it.

That’s so sweet and when young it can be a source of warmth and companionship but please get your little duckling a friend because chickens do great with chickens ducks do great with ducks. Eventually playing in the mud swimming and just making messes your little one will need a buddy for.

Our local feed store won't have KC ducklings for a few weeks unless they suddenly get an early shipment in.

Sounds like a plan. Are you happy your going to get to keep the duckling? Be sure to offer chick grit for your duckling if you give it anything besides it’s feed. I know it accidentally ate the lettuce which is fine it just needs the grit to be able to process it. Did you give it a name?

Of course! I just hope it will turn out to be a male though so that I will only have to get it some females but I will still love it even if it's a female.
My older brother was also excited as he's been wanting ducks for a few years. He even pulled out a book he had about raising ducks.
My younger brother didn't really seem to care other than the fact that the duckling was cute.
