Other Than Chickens, What Do You collect?

Cats. Not really by choice. My former elderly neighbor just fed them. This resulted in a massive amount of kittens, some abandoned. He knew we had 2 indoor males, so he started bringing kittens to me. I couldn't say no...

Fast forward to me and my family hand raising kittens, getting my residence designed as a feral cat colony, getting the neighborhood to help catch and fix the breeders in the neighborhood. It's been 3 years since we've had any kittens around. Thank goodness!
WONDERFUL! I got sucked in a bit, too, but had to cut way back due to "Life and finances" getting in the way. It came to a head the year I had 29 fosters come through my home - and that doesn't include the four "foster fails" that found there furever home right here! I now just help at adoption events, on supply runs and at the shelter when I can.

Rocks. I have collected a large amount of rocks. And I love telling people “yes, that is a box of rocks” when they are complaining about loading it into a moving truck. 😆

In my defense, most of them are fossils, lovely mineral specimens and geologically interesting things I have collected in the field. I can remember where and when I collected each one. I don’t have the space to actually display most of them or I would.
You could try @Fluffy_Butt_Hutt's Knick=knack jar idea! You could use boxes or baskets, too - anything to unify the look. Group similar items, treasures found at a single location or on a specific trip, sort by color, age, all sorts of options; paste a list of what's inside, on the back, or matching-style labels all along the front (or tuck it in the box/basket,) and Voila' - a catalogued collection!

Oh they are already in boxes and baskets and crates, etc I just have literally no space for them. A lot of them are pretty big—like the size of a cantaloupe. And some are very fragile so they are either in a cabinet or in their own special box. I have lots of cigar boxes full of rocks 😆 But my actual house is way too small to be displaying rocks when I need space for my shoes. Not that I collect shoes, per se…🤔

When I was fresh out of high school, I was in our local Thom McCann's so often that I ended up dating the salesman! Of course, It helped that he was "hot" and would hold back shoes he knew I'd like. He knew the tiny sizes always sold out quickly, so I got first shot when something new came in!

I’m really outdoorsy and love to hunt therefore I decorate my house kinda rustic and bring in a lot of natural earthy things. I collect all kinds of stuff for that and I collect empty bullet shells, arrow heads, pine cones, deer antlers, tree limbs, pieces of wood, dried vines, dried flowers, pompas grass blooms, rocks, and much more. I have a hornets nest in a curio cabinet, along with a 2 hog skulls, a deer skull, arrow heads, wild turkey feathers, and much more.

I collect miniature ceramic/glass animal figurines and enamel pins.

I have quite a collection of figurines, at least 500 but I've never counted and I've been collecting them since I was 8 years old. Some are old, some are new, and I still add some whenever I find one I like.

The pins I started collecting at 16, and I make pin boards with them. I figure I'll never lose them if I never wear them. I had some pins that I inherited when my grandmother passed, I've participated in some events that had special yearly pins, and I collect pins from souvenir shops when I travel. I try to only collect pins with some sort of meaning to me, not just random ones. Each pin represents more of a memory.

I'll start things off with "Santa Claus." Years ago, my father gifted me with a couple of small, unique Santa Claus figures, saying, "I've noticed you collect them." Funny, because I hadn't noticed that at all ... until I gathered them all in one place. That little side table opened the floodgates. I "started out" with about forty. At last count the collection numbered over four hundred ... fifteen years ago!
They're mostly small, between three and ten inches. The littlest is a hand-carved wooden piece less than a half-inch high. The largest is a stuffed Santa advertising Pepsi. He stands over three feet high! They vary from abstract ceramic to detailed wood carvings to about a hundred tree ornaments of every make, age and style. Some Santas play music, some are articulated, many are too fragile to do much more than look at them ... but I love them all! Most are put away for the season, but I'll try to get some better pics as they migrate out of their boxes and tubs for the Holidays.
Here are a few that "live" in my typeset shelf. Oh - and we have a pretty extensive Christmas Music collection, too!
what else do i collect lets see more chickens
