We got the door on yesterday.... (excuse the junk we cleaned out the building still needs siding too)

First we had to get everything cleared out of the back..
45090_081.jpg

Then we started framing..
45090_093.jpg

Next came putting up fencing....
45090_098.jpg

Then building doors....
45090_099.jpg

The doors latch both ways, so each breed will be separated. Then fertile eggs can be kept separate. Each will have their own run, but grounds still frozen
45090_101.jpg

Here both doors are on, eventually this will be split in half for two breeds, but for now, everyone is sharing
45090_106.jpg

Then we decided to put in another window for more light

Everything all set for the babies, our puppy Lany is checking to make sure they'll be comfortable??

She also had to check and make sure the food was ok for them (goofy puppy)
45090_119.jpg

Adding pine shavings, feeder, waterer, and lights...everyone is very curious about what is going on
45090_126.jpg

Now its time for babies!!

What kinds did you put in the bator? Can't wait till the "suprise babies" get here. Out of the 18 silkie eggs, one pipped and had its beak out for over 24 hours just peeping but couldnt get out. Had to help it out and its still alive but dont think its going to make it. Been kind of trying to make it eat grow gel and dipping its beak several times a day but it cant even hold up its head for very long. We named it Stevie since it does the Stevie Wonder head shake thing. Its so cute and I want it to make it so bad.

Thank you so much! I can't wait till its all finished. We're having lots of fun with all our chickies!! The other half of the inside will house our bottle baby goats when we get them later this month/early next month from a lady about an hour from here. And our rabbits and their babies since they really arent both boys like we were told. Gotta love having a mini farm. All of those animals will be moved later in the spring to their more permanent homes as we continue working on various projects around our property. Busy Busy Busy

Hope the lil silkie makes it for ya

The eggs are from my barnyard mix... (Hens) Buff Orpingtons, Road Island Reds, Eater Eggers, bantams, (Roosters) Buff Orpingtons, OEGB, BO/RIR mutt

I kept 4 for myself, since they are from my 1st bator hatch. I got 36 eggs due this Friday.... selling most of them too.

Hi there! I have been having alot of problems with our internet. That's one thing that sucks about living in the country. We have been keeping busy with our chickens, but I've really been enjoying them. We moved our bantam cochins out into the coop on Saturday. We decided that we are going to probably have to get rid of them since we got so many silkies. We have a lady from a petting zoo interested in them, so the kids are excited that they will get lots of attention (hopefully not too much, lol) We ordered silkies from Ideal. They came ok and are so cute! Had all 25 make it healthy and none died. Our one little silkie that my son hatched did not make it. It was so sad, but I think it was for the best. I didn't want it to suffer anymore. My son really took it hard, but has really loved getting all the new silkies. He even is trying to get one to lay on its back like Bob
smile.png
The more time that goes by, I really am starting to think that Bob is a girl. We will have to change the name to Bobette. Apparently that is more fun than Bobbie?? That's what the kids say anyway.
Wow, so if Friday is hatch day youre on lockdown now?? Gonna try and load some pictures while the internet is working and hope to get them posted in a little bit.
