I've had the coop door blow closed and I don't like the idea of them not having access. I give some feed and water outside but the main ones are in the coop.
I keep a big 4x4 "doorstop" near the coop door and use it to brace the door open when they are freeranging. It quickly becomes a habit so no more worries about them being accidentally locked out.
Mine would roost in the trees if I did that. They wouldn't mind an excuse to fly up there LOL.
