Our first time with chicks have question!

That is cute with your dog letting the chicks.
Last night I introduced our dogs to our chicks. We have 3 dogs, a sheltie, cavalier king charles spaniel and a cockapoo. My cavalier just wants to lick them to death. Our cockapoo not sure what he is thinking, but he wants them. Our sheltie I am not so sure yet. I want to work with them now to get them to understand these are not toys.

As far as your temps. I have my heat lamp on in my brooder and it is actually anywhere between 94-102 directly under the light. My brooder is quite huge so the chicks find their comfort zone and have been doing very well. They need to be able to get away from the heat if they need too so just make sure the heat isn't distributed evenly throughout the brooder.

I have a question. I just got my chicks today and the brooder where the light is seems to be staying around 83.they are 2-3 days old.BUT they are not huddling together or acting like they are cold.Sould I worry about the temp if they are not acting cold?

Mayce is a very good dog! we have 2 others Corgi's 4 yr old and almost 7 mo old...

we have showed them the chicks but the 4 yr old is going through a kinda grummy stage at the moment- meaning if someone else is getting to much attention she has to get right in there and push them out so we really have not let her to close with out someone having the chick in hand when she see them....

and the baby he doesn't know what to think of them he has a big bark but stays back so that nothing can get him..

Mayce however just thinks everyone is her friend well except my father in law... but she backs up as she barks at him...( personally if he would try to pet her, she would come around it has worked for everyone else -when we got her she had a guy complex but now it is just the FIL who thinks she is not safe)

go figure
