Our Lexie Passed On At 2 A.M.

Aww Cyn, Even knowing the time is coming near does not help with the final realization that our wonderful feathered friends are no longer with us. I sit here typing with tears in my eyes. Lexi that little stinker had us all guessing for so long. Her friends Hawkeye and Ivy were just like the family during those first few years that we all spent getting involved with chickens.

Hugs to you and Tom, I am sure he is feeling very much like you right now. I can certainely understand you contemplation on the future of you and poultry. I went through that too when I lost the whole flock. I wish I could give you some sage advice on the matter. For me, it was not time to do anything but rebuild. Not sure that would be my decision if it hapened now.

Cyn, I'm right beside you, in you and Tom's grief for the loss of Lexie. You gave her a wonderful life, as you do for all of your sweet birds. Her suffering is now done and she rests in heaven with Ivy and Hawkeye. Take some comfort in that thought, and know that others of us will also miss her.

Cyn, she sure was a beauty. Girls like her is what makes barred rocks so popular. The ultimate in a gorgeous backyard hen. She had a great life there with you, and 5 years of age is nothing to sneeze at. Do you have any of her girly kids with you?

I'm sorry. Lexie was a beauty. It is so sad when we lose a dear chicken, but they bring us such happiness when they are with us.
