I came out to check for eggs & I have 3 hens in nesting boxes. Penny has been standing in the same position waiting for someone to finish. She just moved to the left box to stare down the hen that's in there...there are 2 empty boxes...I guess it doesn't take long to pick your favorites. One of my Welsummer girls just walked in and is singing her song, announcing that she's ready to do her job! I love my girls!
Reminds me of the game of musical chairs somewhat.
Just a thought......... make the 2 unused ones into a larger communal box, that can handle more than one chicken at a time. Just remove the divider temporarily, and see what happens.

That's a great idea! I will implement that today...if that doesn't work, I could try removing the divider between the box on the left! That's where I find the majority of the eggs! Thank you! Do you have a thread on your chickens adventures...I would love to follow it, if you do!
I don't have a thread. I don't have enough money to start one ..... Am sure you do get the strike of humor here.
Here is my current small flock of pets. This weekend I will be getting another bantie. Serama. From same BYC member near me, that I got 2 Seramas last year. DW gave me the GREEN LITE. ,,, But what may surprise her is,,,,,,,, I may bring home 2,, since integrating a single chicken is a difficult NO NO>> .
Just hope I don't get this treatment after.
Here are my pets in front yard grazing.
I did loose one of my chickens a few weeks ago mysteriously. No idea what happened. MIA without a trace during the day in enclosed run section. That is still a mystery, and she was not a flyer ether.
The Silver Laced Polish on left side of picture. ,, So have only the White Polish left. .
I allow my chickens to free-range when I'm outside with them. Otherwise they have a very large secure run area.

How fun to see your pictures Cavey! Sorry about the loss. But wow, 2 Seramas! They are such pretty little birds (love their upright posture). Keep your running shoes on so Mrs. Cavey can't get hold of you when you bring them home

I don’t have a thread. I’m not sure how to get one going. I wish I would have thought of it in the beginning like you did, and kept a record with pictures of my chicken journey.
I've been spending quite a bit of time with my chickens today and have seen some pretty funny behavior! My little EE Pearl has been a bit distressed for the last 30-45 minutes. I placed the little roost that I had for them when they were babies in the corner of the coop to discourage the hens from laying there again. One of the Welsummer girls decided just to lay an egg to the left of it...no big deal! Pearl has been going back and forth and in & out of the coop, panting all the while! Well a little bit ago, I discovered one of the roosters in the coop with her, following her around and checking out her nesting spot in the corner. I came back in the house & just went back out to find him in one of the nesting boxes, talking to her as she looked on, I think he was encouraging her to use it! She went back out of the coop with him by her side and she checked out different spots in the pen with him following her the whole time. A few minutes later she went back into the coop and finally hopped up into one of the boxes while he watched. It is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen from a chicken! They never cease to amaze me with their different personality traits!
