A note book is a great idea! Right now I'm shooting AV (aperture priority) so I've been practicing, in focus subject and blurred background! I need to figure out how to quickly change my shutter speed in this mode too! My son brought his quadcopter out and I have no idea how fast that thing was going...I pointed my camera as he was coming at me and just clicked away. I never got one completely focused, I believe that if I had upped my shutter speed they would have turned out way better. Here's one that didn't turn out to bad. This camera is amazing!I used to experiment with settings, (aperture and shutter speeds), and write little notes in a tiny pocket notebook I would keep. Then I would compare results.
I would play with lighting and filters. It was fun and yet it required some focusing of the brain.

I also walked around just trying to learn a little about composing pictures and doing some Spot Color pics!
