I used to experiment with settings, (aperture and shutter speeds), and write little notes in a tiny pocket notebook I would keep. Then I would compare results.
I would play with lighting and filters. It was fun and yet it required some focusing of the brain.
It’s a really great hobby.

A note book is a great idea! Right now I'm shooting AV (aperture priority) so I've been practicing, in focus subject and blurred background! I need to figure out how to quickly change my shutter speed in this mode too! My son brought his quadcopter out and I have no idea how fast that thing was going...I pointed my camera as he was coming at me and just clicked away. I never got one completely focused, I believe that if I had upped my shutter speed they would have turned out way better. Here's one that didn't turn out to bad. This camera is amazing!

I also walked around just trying to learn a little about composing pictures and doing some Spot Color pics!

Ooooh - lovely, lovely pictures. I think we are all going to benefit from your birthday present!

Thank you RC, I was hoping you all wouldn't mind me sharing my pictures, I will try and make sure I add in chicken tax on any of my non chicken posts! ulse I think I took around 160 pics...just this afternoon! I have my shutter set to continuous, so I can be ready if there is any action going on!

Yeah, that was fun! I actually just kept the shutter down and took about 10 pictures...his head starts upright and slowly lowers! Almost like slow motion video!

Update on the Peahen. My husband has been wanting to get rid of the rabbits. We don't like processing them and he doesn't want to have them if we will not be using them for food, I guess the good manure supply isn't enough to keep them. Anyway, he said as soon as we find a home for them, we can go and get the peahen! I'm really happy for our Peacock, because I don't want him to be lonely! So hopefully that will be happening soon!

No, she wasn't in there. I didn't see her anywhere in the pen...I wonder if she was just picked on too much and flew out. There was no way to do a true integration.
