I think Pearl is showing some improvement! I was moving her back and forth from the little roost to make sure she would drink some water, which she did, then she would just stand there and after a bit I would place her back on the roost so she could rest! She now seems to be moving back and forth by herself and I saw her preening her feathers. I know it's to early to tell, but I'm hopeful!
Good morning Debby...thank you! She's doing much better today. There is more matter in her droppings, but they are still very watery. She is moving more and talking just a bit. She wasn't talking at all yesterday! I don't see any signs of parasites in her droppings, but that doesn't mean anything. She has to be on Corid for 7 days, so I will probably keep her where she is until Wednesday, then I will put her in the mini coop area and have my son let her join the flock on Friday! We're leaving on Thursday so my husband can play golf at the Coeur d'Alene golf resort and to visit with our daughter & sil! I was going to pick up the 2 new chicks this week, but with Pearl being sick, I need to let my friend know that I won't pick them up until next week! Now I need to pop over and say hi to everyone on your thread! That sounds like progress Rene! Hope she's even better today![]()

I'm so happy that she's doing better today!Progress is good with your girl!
Coeur d''Alene is in Idaho, right? I've never been there but from pictures I've seen, it looks pretty. Nice that you'll be able to visit with some family!
It is most likely she ate something that did not agree with her. That's what I thought from the start. Have you considered giving more corn to try and get some weight back on her quickly? She & Medh have gone into cahoots together & separated from the main flock. I've posted.I'm ok with this short term as they both have some issues but it is not a long term solution for any of us. The issue that got Suyin separated in the first place has disappeared. No idea what happened there. I suspect she found & ate something she shouldn't have.
What color are her watery poops? I will advise on worming in a second. I need to pull my files. I have two different ways for you to go. One from Casportpony and one from Shadrach. I've used them both.Good morning Debby...thank you! She's doing much better today. There is more matter in her droppings, but they are still very watery. She is moving more and talking just a bit. In parts of Europe no egg withdrawal is required, but it's not approved for use here in the US so egg withdrawal is required. For worming @Shadrach recommends flubendazole for worming as there is no need to throw the eggs away.
If one has large round worms or cecal worms, a small dose of this can be used for 5 consecutive days with no egg withdrawal.@casportpony reccomended a goat dewormer, fenbendazole. This requires egg discarding although people have been known to eat them anyway. The dose is 0.23ml per pound administered orally via syringe. Dose twice, 10 days apart. You can get it at tractor supply.
Thanks, Bob. Waiting on supplies arriving. It is most likely she ate something that did not agree with her. That's what I thought from the start. Have you considered giving more corn to try and get some weight back on her quickly?
