They are pretty good sized, which is what you want when you are raising them for food! Of course...I would much rather sell this lot and never have to breed for any more litters! They are supposed to be an emergency source of food. I only bred the doe, because of all the information I found on the importance of having a first breeding between 4-6 months of age, for larger litter sizes, it obviously worked. She & Buck are certainly a good breeding pair! They look so much bigger to me.
A good breeding pair will give kits that will grow quickly! NZ aren't huge rabbits, but they have a good meat to bone ratio, making them ideal for meat! These two definitely provided fast growing kits...if I ever want to sell them, I could sell them as proven breeders, since I have this first litter documented so well!Perhaps because they are meat rabbits? I find things are the same between me and the gals with TRUMP around.... I’m very glad for that cuz if it would have changed then I’d probably not keep him...I had a 4+ year old alpha hen when Jabberwocky came along. The two of them fought frequently. Having a rooster completely changed my relationship with the flock and Patsy and Lilly were very confused by that. I will not do it again. I prefer the relationship we have without the rooster.
Adorable!! And so big! Our bunny was probably 4 weeks when we got himThe babies are 8 weeks old today! We finally moved them over into the grow out hutch! Daphne's cage is pretty good sized, but it was getting crowded as the babies are growing so fast! This was our rabbit tractor...it's a great size and gives them a lot of room!
