Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Good afternoon everyone! A lot has been happening! My mom is in the hospital again with problems related to her hip surgery. After talking with my sister it has been decided that she will be coming to live with us when she is healed from her current health issue.

The kitchen remodel continues.

On the chicken front I noticed today that one of my RIR girls has a very pronounced limp. I saw nothing unusual when I checked her over. I will keep a close eye on her to make sure she is not being picked on and getting plenty of food and water, hopefully she will start to improve soon. :(

It is a very lovely day here today, the sun is shining and the weather is warm! I hope you all have a beautiful day! :love
It will be nice having your Mom stay with you. I wish my Mom could be here.
You WILL be busy then! More than ever.😍

My girl is still in the nesting box. I gave her some scrambled egg, crumbles and water. She really went after the egg, I'm glad that her appetite is good. She stood up in the box, so at least she is still somewhat mobile! I decided to just let her remain there, but I think I will go into the coop tomorrow so that I can give her another exam, I just don't want to exacerbate the problem.

Alpia is broody again. :( I have let her go as there's nowhere to put her @ the moment. 🙄
Hope your mum is doing ok. :hugs

That broody girl...lol! She will be fine...this is what she's made for, even if she doesn't have a rooster! :)

Thank you! :hugs All things considered she's doing pretty well! We just found out she's going back to the rehab center she was in for her first 2 hip surgeries, she's happy about that as they have been really good to her during her previous stays. They are already working with her to start using a walker...I don't quite know how that works when you don't have a hip. My sister is supposed to get some more information tomorrow on how they are stabilizing the leg. It's hard being so far away and I wouldn't even be able to see her if I went down there. She struggles with remembering things, so it's hard to find out anything from her...she just doesn't know! She is in God's hands and I'm thankful for that!

Well today was a town day, which means all day, I had zero time with my flock, but hubs does a great job of taking care of them when I can't. My girl is still sitting in the nesting box, but we do know that she's been going out for food and water and we are bringing both to her to make sure she is getting enough. I will be home all day tomorrow, so I'm going to take her out of the coop and see how well she is walking, hopefully she is starting to improve!

This has happened to Lilly twice. The first time it took her a week to get over it. The second time not quite as long. I'm sure she just strained it much like my Lilly.
