Over 72 hours in the mail

PO basically said it wasn’t them that they should have been shipped express. Ideal will make it right, I’m not worried about that. Unfortunately they don’t have any KCs available in the next few weeks according to the website. I’ll call Monday morning, though.

Any ideas what my little roo is? He’s hanging in there. I put him in my bra for a little bit every hour to try to warm him up a little more. Still not going to the water on his own but seems to drink when we dip his beak. Not interested in food yet.

So sorry for your losses, your boy must be just heartbroken! I’d be raising hell with the post office, (I’m not blaming your local office, here). I can’t see a big hatchery not shipping them correctly. I feel like the PO screwed up and is now in full CYA mode. I’ve been customer service in some big companies, when they screw up, and I am very well versed in the various “we are sorry this happened, but we had no fault in it” BS lines, and their response stinks of it to me!

So sorry this happened to your family, you’ve done everything you can, and I do hope the survivors pull through for you! Hugs... :hugs

He’s moving around after he got snuggled on the sock for a while and his feet aren’t cold now. He drinks if I dip his beak, not eating except maybe a tiny bit when I push it in. One of the goslings won’t leave him alone, poor thing. But he snuggles under her/him while he’s being preened. Cautiously optimistic. Going to see if my mom wants a roo for her girls, if not, I guess I’ll be getting some chickens earlier than planned!

What a nightmare! I am so angry and sad! The PO must realize that there are live animals in the box. You would think they'd treat it more carefully. Terrible! I know Ideal will take care of you, but it is the postal service who is to blame!!!

I ordered 15 chicks from MPC to arrive in June. They ship from Ohio; I'm in CA. I may call and change the shipping method because of your story.

Chickie is still hanging in there. I just fell head over heels in love with Rural King. Hubby sent me duck hunting, told me to get whatever the store’s minimum was to cheer our son up and then we’d have Ideal reship. Went to TSC, couldn’t decide if the three they had were Pekin or WH. Don’t really want Pekin. Decided I would go see what RK had (never been in one), y’all duck math is real. I came out with 6 KCs (hopefully I got a few females) and 1 Rouen or Mallard (hoping male mallard). Got home, hubby says ummm...two? Five minutes later he said have Ideal reship anyway so we know we have at least some females . Guess I gotta build some coops now. If chickie survives a few more days I’ll set up another brooder and go get more chicks from RK, they had some nice breeds.
