Hello everyone!
I have some concerns for my Buff Brahma hen. She is 2 years old but ever since her best pal JC the white Cochin passed away last year she has developed some bad habits.
She over eats to the point when she walks or runs her chest looks like it is about to rip off of her body.
She does nothing but eat, eat, eat... I have heard that Brahmas tend to over eat but I think Bunta (my Brahma) has gone to the extreme.
Usually the bulge is bigger than the pictures shown below.
Her Crop or whatever you call that thing where they store food is so big is drags on the floor, wears off her feathers and scrapes her bare skin.
I am concerned that she would end up hurting herself since they is always walking over sticks and rocks.
I couldn't get a good picture because Bunta wouldn't stay still but if you look closely her feathers are gone on the bottom and you can see her bare skin.
If I were to put a restriction to her diet what about my other chickens?
I have 7 others that only eat when they need it.
Please help....
