One of mine that didn't make it last time was a rocker. I was so exited to meet it, but it was malpositioned and couldn't get out. I didn't get home in time to help it. I had said to myself, that if it weren't out when I got home, I would help. I am going to look at your pics and read your description again.

Looks good! I’m glad you didn’t enclose the whole egg because it still needs to breathe thru the shell. It will continue to lose the excess moisture. Just keep an eye on the membrane that it doesn’t dry out.

I opened it back up and added a tad of moisture inside the shell away from the chicks face. It was actually neat how the membrane became translucent. I in no way recommend doing this unknown experiment, but if one must; The tiniest bit of water on the end of a q-tip of bottled water will make the internal membrane clear enough to see inside as well as be able to see the arteries and veins. This might help a lot of people be able to see the vein before making that dire error in snipping it arteries open. In turn; saving tons of chicks from bleeding out.

Chick is still moving & going strong. I have been checking the humidity all day to keep it above 60%. It’s about 70% at the moment.

Thanks, Dragon. I will research this. I like that you can candle the eggs in this as well as maintain the humidity, and, I assume, it auto-rotates?. I want to hatch some eggs soon so am looking for a good incubator.

Looks good, but you should probably moisten the whole exposed membrane, but use Vaseline or coconut oil instead of water. Water dries up too quickly. Just a thin coating will do. You will be able to see every little blood vessel.

Update.
Chick is still alive.
I am exhausted. Lol.
Well worth it though.
I am super excited to share how it all turns out no matter what the out come.

Letting baby rest in egg, I will let it come out when it’s ready: if it is stuck then I will help it.

I ended up making a small incision where it’s beak was to allow it to breath fresh air and I covered it’s membrane with coconut oil later on when I unpacked it (we just bought a house and moved. I still don’t know where stuff is.)
A few moments ago I used coconut oil and water on a q-tip to gently remove internal membrane that had dried up arteries and veins.
So I think that is all I did, if you have any further questions please feel free.
I’m actually really hoping this chick is a male and is still super healthy.

Any guesses as to what kind of chick this is?
