PA are there actions/swaps

oh, the rodeo is Saturday? But that's in the afternoon, isn't it? I'll have to look at the schedule. We'll also have to look at the weather. The past two years have been good, but the farm show is infamous for "bringing" bad weather.

Oh- poultry judging is on Saturday. Does the public get to watch the judging? If not, I'd rather go on Sunday to see the results. Has anyone ever seen/ done this before?

Nope. Been there once to look at draft horses. You should be able to walk around the poultry area even if they are judging I would think.

anyone been to the bellknap auctions in dayton? it's every wed i believe and every week unless holiday. i've been itching to go to one but haven't made it yet it's winter now. there is poultry, livestock, farm supply and equipment all kinds of things.

they also used to have sugar hill auctions up by brockway but i don't think they have them anymore not sure.

only other ones close to us is 2 amish school/hospital funds have auctions they auction off consignment and any animals donated. i was to one of theirs last year and the animals there where goats, horses, rabbits, guns awesome furniture, poultry supplies and loads of stuff. there was 3 auctioneers going at once so i couldn't keep up,lol but this year i will be takeing some chooks see how they do as they are always looking for them. i think the next ones for those will be july and aug though.
hope that helps,
silkie

I would like to know when in July and where that auction is, I just live down the road in Hazen. I guess I'll have to start watching the local papers to see if anything comes up.

it's at the shepler farm about a mile from troutville. i'll know when it is closer to time our feedstore will have fliers for it and so will the amish stores. i'll let you know as soon as i find out when they are, we can always meet and you can follow me there. it would be neet to meet a fellow board member!! i live about 20 min from there.

we took in consignments the 2 days before and then sat was the big auction. it was HUGE!!!! i got a sm sassafrass end table there last year that is handmade for $15 this year i want to try to get a whole set for my kitchen their furnature is gorgous with awesome prices!! i got bunnies for the kid's and i can't remember what else now. i can't wait to see what goodies we get there this year!

Now I really can't wait until July, I know Troutville pretty well, the wife's family lives there. I'll start saving now so I can buy a bunch of goodies!! I'll be stopping in at the feed store in March or April to get some birds and I will check with then too!! I will keep an eye out my way also, lots of Amish out here too, but I haven't been able to get to any auctions. They always seem to fall on evenings I have to work, but I will post here if I find anything.

the farm let me see if i can explain it right, lol. from troutville 410 west about .5-1 miles there is a stone house on the left side. if ya look on the right accross the road there is lots of white buildings and a big white house set back in with a huge fenced in pen with deer in it, small corn fields and that in front. it's the only farm that looks like it that's the farm the auctions are at. haag's feed is about a 1.5 from the farm. i'll let ya know when i hear of anymore this way or when dates are set and where.

what kind of birds are you looking for around march or april? i assume production since that's usually what they have but if your looking for bantams let me know before you head this way. i may have peeps or eggs available or older ones then if you are interested. haag's is where i buy my feed from almost always they are real nice there and the kid's love to see the deer in the pen's. i got some peeps from them year before last they where golden comets, ee's and partridge rocks. real nice birds but i sold them all decided to change breeds i was raiseing. i'm looking forward to seing what they get in this year.

if ya find any auctions ur way let me know too.

My wife is related to the folks with the deer and Haag's Feed Store. That is where I get my Cornish X, but if you have any Buff Orpington's I would really be interested in the spring as well. Let me know if you hear when it is. If I get word of anything out around Hazen or Brookville I will let you all know as well.
