GC is Giant Cochins!
What is in your bator?

therealsilkiechick MIGRANE go to bed!!! when you come across info don't have to go to leeps & bonds!
Thanks though!

I have bantam cochins in my bator, a mix of the birds I got from you. The Blue Rooster seems to be the boss man, and he has bred the white Frizzle and the blue one. After candling, I have about 10 fertile and growing, should start hatching in a week. Depending on what you hatch, I might be interested in either breed, but I would prefer the Buff Orpingtons.

Maybe you will get a Frizzle!!!

I'll let you know how many hatch I have a bout 7 of each plus I am hatching a few different kinds of bantams!

I could not believe how big the Cochin eggs were (I have only had bantams) 1 was bigger than the Orpington

Everything I read said GC have small eggs!

RChicks, have you candled anything yet? I'm getting anxious about my pending hatch. They come out of the turner tomorrow, and hopefully in the next couple days I'll have a bunch of little puff balls peeping and driving the cat nuts. (Don't worry they will be out of harms way, the cat won't get to them, not that that lazy critter....well never mind). I pulled everything out to get the brooder ready for when they all hatch out and dry off. And the young pullet finally started laying, she just hasn't figured out that the nest box is where they go yet. So now I have 3 bantam cochins laying eggs.

If you ever remember what day they are can you tell us?
and the place exactly?

They have their auction every Monday. It goes all day. They start with miscellaneous, then go to vegetables, eggs, poultry, calves, cows, pigs and sheep.

You might be able to just happen to get some chickens here but, as someone else says, they are mostly culls.

They are on Route 136 in 84, PA. Let me know if you need more specific directions and from where.

You may want to order Poultry Press. They have an add for a Swap Meet almost every month in Uniontown, Pa first swap meet is March 18th, 2008 at Fayette county Fairgrounds 7AM to 12noon. Also there is an add when Bloomsburg, Pa at the fairgrounds has an auction in the Spring and Fall. Also there is a swap meet in Halifax, Pa once a year in the fall usually last weekend in September. Then there are the exotic sales at Roots auction in Manheim I think twice a year Spring and fall. Also Lebanon Valley auction in Fredericksburg also has an exotic sale in the spring and fall. I believe Roots and Lebanon valley auctions are advertised in the Lancaster Farmer but not exactly sure where I seen the add. Plus there are weekly auctions at Perkiomenville, Pa on Mondays, Roots on Tuesdays, Lebanon Valley on Wednesdays, Green Dragon on Fridays and Schuylkill Haven on Saturdays. Those weekly auctions you may find what you are looking for but you better look at the animals real good and quarantine them for a month before you mix them with your stock:eek:. There is another one near Harrisburg,Pa also and I am sure there are plenty others I am not aware of. Good luck and happy hunting.
