PA UNITE - egg set 2/8-2/10/13 HATCH-A-LONG

So I candled and marked the air cell of my eggs yesterday (day 7), and 9 out of 14 seem to be growing! One of the eggs has a blood ring and the other 4 just didn't start growing. Some were porous. I have a question: if I candle the egg with the blood ring and then handle my healthy eggs, will the bacteria from the dead egg transfer to the clean eggs? Thanks!

Oh dear! Got a new thermometer/hydrometer today and threw it in with the eggs, realized the old one was 7 degrees off!

I was operating at only 93 degrees for 2 whole days. After throwing in two more non-digitals, I came to realize this horror. Bumped up the temps now, everything's stabilized. Hopefully everything will be ok!! I'd definitely rather have this than realizing the temps were 7 degrees over what they were supposed to be. I think they'll be fine but I'm worried now, everything's shipped biddies...

In the same boat here

ChickenPerson, that's good news! With the whole blood ring thing, I've never had that happen to me before.

Blood rings aren't necessarily a bacterial thing, sometimes it's weak embryos, heat fluctuations, stuff like that. Bacteria usually has smells to go with it

Wow, I never thought of that!
