Paging JoeBryant. JoeBryant to the HELP desk, please!

You can culture your own mother.

Check your local grocery store in the organic section. Buy a bottle of the drink - raw, organic and use it to make your own. We did it and it works perfectly.

She may not have started with liquor but the fruit and sugar ferment and your end result is liquor. 6 of one half dozen of the other. Same with sour dough bread starter. The liquid that separates is called 'hooch' - sugar alcohols.

True...and if she knew that at the time, she'd have the vapors!

--I have a nice, big baby kombucha scoby you can have if you're interested. Just pay the shipping and it's yours!

I tried growing a scoby from the bottled, raw Kombucha and the results were pathetic. Fortunately, somebody graciously sent one to me and it was a monstrosity. So big, it looked like an alien life form living in my big jar of sweet tea.

I don't know what the gentleman used to grow that scoby. I was so flabbergasted by the size that I forgot to measure the silly thing.

It's either the size of a dinner plate or a little larger. He thought more people were going to take him up on his free scoby offer and he was going to cut it up so there would be several good-sized pieces, but I was the only responder, so I got the whole honking scoby.

So, what I want to know is how much kombucha do you give your chickens? Did they like it?

Elite Silkies--try taking some digestive enzymes too.

It's like ACV - moderation in everything - even the good stuff. When you grow a new scoby they will eat the old one.

I love Kombucha, but my S.C.O.B.Y. died when we moved.

I f anyone has one to share, I'll gladly send off some Paypal. Just PM me with a price, please.

I love to make Kombucha using peach tea, it makes such a delish drink. I have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis and it really did make a difference in my pain level. Love the stuff!
Oh! The level of alcohol in it is so minimal that it couldn't possibly make you drunk.

Dh brews beer, wine, cider, meade, etc, and has tested the alcohol levels and they are way lower than even beer.
