Partridge cochin gender?

Aw, Oliver is going to be a manly little looker when he's done feathering out. He's definitely male, if you still had any question.

I'm just wondering how old he will be when he crows and how often.

All roosters are different. I have had some start crowing as early as 6 weeks old while others didn't start until 4-6months old. Some crow loud while others have a softer crow. Some crow a lot through out the day some a little. Some roosters even crow ALL night long. I know this doesn't help but Roosters are all different.

My Roosters specifically start crowing between 445-515 every morn (I have 4 roosters) they crow randomly through out the day but never crow past dusk. 2 of my roosters are louder than the other 2. It depends on the rooster really though they are all different.

I know it all depends on the individual. I hope we have a soft grower. Are you only talking about cochins, or all breeds?

I was talking about all breeds. Ive never had experience with Cochin rooster Specifically. I have 4 roosters, 2 Black Cooper Marans, 1 Crested Cream Legbar, 1 Japanese bantam.

Does your town not allow roosters or is your family just concerned about the noise for the neighbors sake?

Well, no one knows we have chickens. I think they know now because our older chickens have been laying for over a week and they've been clucking every morning. The older ones also whine loudly to come out, but no one has complained. My mother doesn't want crowing, my dad doesn't want conflict with my mom or the neighbors, he wants a rooster als. I don't mind crowing.

Before I had roosters I was against them also. I didn't want to hear the noise I was concerned about our close neighbors also that they would be aggressive. But at one point I ended up with straight run chicks and I got myself a few roosters out of the bunch. I decided to give it a whirl and come to find out I LOVE LOVE LOVE roosters. If roosters laid eggs I think I would own mostly roosters lol. They are BEAUTIFUL and I love the crowing, it doesn't bother me one bit and for the year I have owned the roosters my neighbors haven't complained(fingers crossed it stays that way). But I understand roosters aren't for everyone. I hope you get a quiet crower and maybe your mom will change her mind. If not He is very pretty Im sure someone will give him a wonderful lifelong home.

I hope we have the same situation. Oliver, unlike our leghorn cockerel Jasper, doesn't mind being petted and picked up. We gave Jasper away. 2 of our 3 dogs like to get at the chicks and the chickens. One's a Pekingese and the other is a Labrador Retriever. I would like Oliver to teach them a lesson.

If roosters laid eggs I'd have strictly roosters  I'm obsessed with roosters :p

Oh and studio, we have 3 Roos who are just starting to breed (rape, really) the hens and they still haven't crowed, even though we have 3 full grown Roos who crow. They usually crow sooner when they hear other roosters crow
So Oliver may crow early or he may crow late. I'm gonna guess late, Danny (our roo) crowed late, and so jelly bean never did (jelly bean was our very first roo, Cochin, and we sold him before he crowed. I loved jelly bean!!)

Yeah it looks like rape. Are your roos cochins? I also think Oliver will start late because their are 5 leghorns that are all around 19 weeks old.
